The Walking Dead premiers tonight on AMC
Early reviews seem positive.

In the 100-degree-plus heat of a deserted stretch of downtown Atlanta during the filming of the pilot for AMC's "The Walking Dead," director and executive producer Frank Darabont was getting blank stares from his zombies.

"You can imagine what it's like for them, standing around in the heat and humidity in makeup," Darabont, who directed "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile," tells The News.

"The tricky thing always with our zombies is to get them to understand how fast they can move," says Darabont. "I don't want my zombies to run any faster than the first zombie we see in the cemetery in 'Night of the Living Dead,' because that's Romero."

1. I am very excited about this.
It is so hard to find good shows on tv and I hope this is one that I will enjoy following closely. I am ready for some zombies on tv!

Take a look at some photos..

10. DVR set to stun
I just finished reading "The New Dead" and re-read over half of WWZ last night to rev up for this program. We are leaving to have dinner with friends in few minutes and will probably watch it over there, but I will record it anyway.

12. Wish we still got that channel.
We recently downgraded and no more AMC. I'll have to look for it on the dark side. ;)

14. Love The Idea of the Show, But...
How can you do multiple seasons? After 1 or 2 seasons, won't running away from zombies get old? How do you keep it fresh? A zombie/human love story? A zombie/human baby?

15. I htink at some point, the zombies will have to take a back seat to the human characters
It's how LOST chugged through 6 seasons of wacky scenarios and questions, the characters became more important than the mysteries. They have to get the audience to care about the survivors, that's how the show survives past the first season when people stop caring about the apocalypse.

17. It's been a pretty successful comic book series for a number of years.
Like the other poster said though, the human stories will eventually take over. At least there will be cool zombie stuff until then though.

20. The comic series is nearly up to a 100 issues.
Zombies are the background.

It's a human-conflict story.

30. I've only watched a small part of it so far (SPOILER ALERT)
Seems okay, but the opening scene with the little girl & the sheriff was pretty predictable, as was the sheriff waking up in the (nearly) abandoned hospital. Didn't something similar happen in "28 Days Later"?

26. I'll be watching it next week.
I sort of work on a zombie story sometimes, and I think I need more gruesome, up-close encounters to flesh it out.

The right mix of horror and drama.

When Rick Grimes tracked down the "torso woman," now that was great! I felt sympathetic for this poor zombie.

I love this poster by Drew Struzan.

29. Like I said in another post. That was the first time I felt sorry for a zombie.
That was a really sad scene in my opinion. This is a really powerful show. It's about time some good television was happening again...
