Dear Penthouse Forum... I was the only guy in a room full of MILFs
Wish I had pictures. Boy, am I tired today.

:bounce:

ok, it was completely innocent. My daughter's school had a parent's meeting for the local chapter of Odyssey of the Mind. I got there 5 minutes late and walked into a room full of women. I was the only guy there.

And, I'm tired because I was up too late last night trying to watch the original Clash of the Titans.

1. Terraist!
You were at a meeting of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front?!

That is what you meant by MILF, right?

4. The original had that line in it as well
Only, it was Sir Laurence Olivier instead of Liam Neeson.

5. Nothing against Liam Neeson,
but compared to the original, which was awesome, this was a nice movie you watch to kill some time or just because you have nothing better to do. I mean, how many giant scorpions can you have in one single movie? :)

6. There was an amazing lack of drama and diversity of scene, wasn't there?
I liked it more than I expected, given the reviews. There weren't any glaring problems, really. But there was so much that just lay there. They introduce the two brothers, for instance, as so cool, then do almost nothing with them except minor sight gags. And the only reason Zeus worked at all in the film was because Liam Neeson has an amazing skill at filling in the blanks in the script through acting.

Could have been so much better.

I really don't get the love affair with the first one. It was campy and cute for the time, but no better than the Sinbad or Hercules movies. Bad script, worse acting, ludicrous (but ingenious) special effects, and costumes straight out of the JCPenney's Bed and Bath catologue. If I hadn't been starved for Greek mythology or any fantasy movies as a kid, I would have never remembered it any more than the classic Mexican wrestling movies on Sunday mornings.

8. Watching the original now
I would agree. At least it had Ursula Andress and some nude scenes in it. ;) But watching it as a kid, there were a few really frightening scenes, while the newer one, although sure a joy to watch once in while, had nothing really to remember in it.

Don't diss the special effects in the original. They were way ahead of anything else then. To make this in stop-go-motion must have been a huge process. And the owl was way cuter. ;)

9. I was 14 or 15 when the original came out
so, the scene with Judi Bowker being nude from behind & the side was quite memorable to me.

10. They weren't when the movie was made.
Harryhausen's special effects were great in his early films, but by the time they made "Clash of the Titans," they were already outdated. That was made after "The Empire Strikes Back" and around the same time as Krull and Tron and Dragonslayer. They were still cool, but they were no longer cutting edge or all that realistic in comparison to other movies at the time.

I'm not dissin 'em, just putting them in chronological perspective.

11. You're right.
I really thought it was made way earlier but just checked ... 1981. Man, even Ursula Andress was not anymore cool then. ;)

I really thought it was made around 1960 or so. My mistake.

13. I think they were trying for that effect.
I think it was supposed to have a retro film look, as sort of a tribute to Harryhausen because of the special effects advances that had been made around that time. That's when Lucas's Industrial Lights and Magic was really starting to change film making. I think part of the camp of the film was a deliberate throwback attempt, and some of it was Harryhausen trying to prove (and maybe failing) that his style of effects were still relevant. That was some of the cuteness of the movie--the old-style feel of it.

7. I'm MARRIED to a MILF. She's 47 and hotter now than she was when I met her in '84.
She's also a 3rd degree blackbelt now. I strongly suggest that you don't fuck with this lady.
