1. Yes, actually...
One made a big difference in my life as I was facing a crisis last year... provided a valuable reality check every time I returned to it. I got the audiobook version as well, and just had it on "repeat" for several weeks until the storm finally passed.

6. Yes, a few.
"Winning Through Intimidation" and "Looking Out for #1" by Robert Ringer, were helpful in helping me assert myself.

The Dale Carnegie books were helpful for basic social skills. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living".

The John Bradshaw books are helpful for figuring out why most of us are so psychologically messed up and addicted to activities or substances.

Those are "Bradshaw on The Family", "Healing the Shame that Binds You" and "Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child".

11. Yes but only topic specific ones.

I don't think the "read this book and your life won't suck anymore" books are worth the pulp they waste. I tend to find the ones focused on a hyper-specific "task-oriented" topic useful. (That's not a great explanation but I'm struggling for words.)

The Art of Conversation by Catherine Blyth is a good example of a good self-help book. Anything written by Dr. Phil, Dale Carnegie or Chicken soup for the...soul. is pretty useless IMO.

I swear I saw one called "Self confidence for dummies" from the "for dummies" series. That just cracked me up.
