Just got back from walking the dog.

We passed by a house with a couple of those big inflatable Halloween decorations on the front lawn. Orchid toddled up to the one shaped like a black cat, sniffing at the side of it's face.

Then the motor inside moved it's head toward her.

This big, brave bruiser of a Pit Bull jumped ten feet, then ran to hide behind me.

I'm not ashamed to say I laughed at her all the way home.

1. I had a 100-pound Doberman/Shepherd/Great Dane mutt who went to pieces every time he saw one of
those leaf bags with the pumpkin face on it. He was usually a silent dog -- scarily so -- but as soon as he saw one of those bags, it was obvious he thought its entire existence was WRONG.

4. my dog won't go near those inflatable things
First one he ever saw was the Grinch at Christmas time and he wouldn't even walk on the opposite side of the street from it... ran me back to the corner and squeezed up against me in fear for another couple of blocks till he got over it. He takes no notice of other decorations that aren't blow-up ones unless they move or make noise, and those he doesn't seem to care so much about. As soon as he sees one of those blow-up ones he's tear-assing in the opposite direction. One neighbor has some sort of gizmo that they hang off the porch that plays various Christmas carols that's just different toned bells, and he loves that one... he sits right down on the sidewalk and listens while staring at it until I get bored and have to tug him away to continue the walk, but he'll keep stalling and looking back until we get to the corner. He'd probably sit there for hours listening to it.

This silly Akita would attack a bear with no fear, but it's little things that tend to terrify him like flies. A couple of months ago we had a fly loose in the house that terrorized him for a week until I finally managed to kill the little bugger. Any time it buzzed him he'd freak out throw himself at me trying to climb me like a tree to get away from it. Big bugs he'll chase and eat, but little flying things he's terrified of.

10. That is so funny and cute!
I walked our dog by a large reflective window and she barked at herself, but I'm disappointed that she doesn't notice animals moving on television.

I wonder if/how Orchid would react to one of these-
