He's resting now.

1. OMG, poor kitty. That is a lot of problem. What happened?
Sounds like it will be canned food from now on.

2. He had stomatitis since we "found" him and he stopped responding to non-surgical care.
So the only choice was removing his back molars on his upper gum. It was only a matter of time, but he should be able to go back on dry food after he heals up (assuming he isn't a spoiled drug addict by the time he heals :) )

3. I hope he does just fine now. I hurt just thinking about it.
But I can't imagine how he will be able to eat dry food. That is a lot of molars removed. But I am sure you will know what works after the healing. Good luck.

5. if you watch them (or check a random pile of hack)
you will see they really don't chew much anyway - cats pretty much swallow dry food whole even with sound teeth.

7. LOL, ain't that the truth. Don't have to check too carefully to
notice that, although one of my cats sure makes lots of noise crunching away. I have a cat who hacks daily, lots of clean up on her.

4. My Imhotep had all his teeth pulled because of stomatitis and infected teeth
Once he was able to eat without pain, he put on 3 pounds in a month, and eating dry food didn't bother him - he did get lots of wet food as well, but he still enjoyed his crunchies.

6. Poor pussycat. If only they could understand we have their best interests at heart.
