eMac!
It's been a real struggle to decide which new Mac to buy, but after a long, long and often back and forth battle with myself, I've decided to go with the eMac :bounce: That 17 inch CRT is just...amazingly sharp! And very easy on the eyes too, being a flat CRT.

I might skip the Superdrive model, as I don't have alot of stuff to burn on a dvd-r anyway :-) Hell, my iPod has all I need backed up already. So eMac/512 MB, 40 GB HD--$949 (before tax). Free shipping for orders over $50. I'll get the 3 year Applecare warranty too, betetr safe than sorry, and a good deal at $149 (iBook coverage is $249!)

Any eMac DUers here? I think I'll go with the stand too, and buy an iSight afer getting the warranty (early June).

Baby blm will be getting her own eMac soon. She ignores her older Mac for my eMac, and bogarts it shamelessly.

3. You can easily get an external firewire DVD-RW later on
I have a small pride (herd? pack? gaggle?) of iMacs at home, and have a whole pile of firewire devices plugged into them. I got a decent firewire CD-RW/DVD+RW for a couple of hundred bucks awhile back. It's actually quite a bit faster than the built in SuperDrive.

9. I did consider getting a G4 tower
but the idea of shelling out more cash for a monitor...sheesh, I said no. Not right now. 2 80 Gig HDs, huh? wow :toast:
