the HDTV output?

Still worrying about upgrading the video card in my computer and the recording features sound really good on this card.

I think I can pick one up for appx. $270.00.

Feedback?

1. I am a regular user of ATI
Haven't gotten into the 9800's yet though but they are getting good reviews.

2. My brother has one.
He is thrilled with it.

I will say that I am impressed, but can't justify the expense. Make suere you download the demos for it though. The one with the bouncing balls playing music is severly impressive. Hell, it's kinda neat at low res even.

It's the one called AniMusic "Pipe Dreams"

<on edit>

For those of us who can't afford the vid-card to watch it properly there is also an MPG file with the same "movie"

6. Great stuff! Thanks for the link.
Played on my system, but not like I saw it on TechTV which I imagine the 9800 would render it as well.

7. Yeah, it's sweet.
It becomes more impressive when you realize it isn't a movie, but individually rendered balls bouncing off individually rendered strings, et. al.

10. I think they did it in Maya. I've got the shareware version, but am
still intimidated by it. Hope to take classes some day.

11. Quite possible.
That's starting to get well over my head when it comes to computer geek stuff however. That6's why I keep my roomie. She's the system expert in the house.

9. I have that exact model
Its a great card. Mine has some kind of defect in it though, I get a lot of artifacts with 3D gaming (which isn't a problem for me, I don't play many games), I need to send it in for a replacement. But thats the only problem I've had with it, everything else is great.

Mine was an ATI brand card and came with a limited version of Pinnacle Studio 8. I'm not impressed with the software, the analog capture and rendering produces movies that are somewhat pixelated.

12. Ouch! I do a lot of gaming... I have several video capture and editing
programs already. I'm hoping that if I get the card they will work with it well. Any vid is processor and memory intensive. I'm running a 2600+ with a gig of RAM on a 400 FSB. I'm using an older Nvidia card that is starting to show some weaknesses in UT2004 with frame rates of 35 fps.

I WANT 80!!!!
