We've had to call the cops twice this week....
altered prescriptions. And not done very well at all. If you are going to change the quantity 10 to 40, you need to look below the number and see that the doctor wrote t-e-n under the number 10. Not very bright. And to make 5 into 10, yes you put a one in front of the 5, but scribbling O's over the 5 in darker ink is kind of a giveaway. Prescription drug abuse is rampant.

1. I am not sure how y'all read those prescriptions anyway.
I can never tell what mine say. My baby's is typed out and printed. But mine, they are all chicken scratch.

2. A few years ago when I broke my hand they gave me hydrocodone
it made me sick to my stomach and I only took one pill out of the prescription.

A couple years later I mentioned to some coworkers that I still had the pills and was wondering what the proper procedure was for throwing them out (knowing that our water is polluted with every kind of prescription drug imaginable) and I was shocked when several coworkers asked me to give it to them.

3. Lots of people love the pain pills. When I had my wisdom teeth
cut out, I only took 1 of the mepergan given to me. I had 20. We joked about the street value of those pills. It is a drug. People like drugs. Especially loopy duzy drugs. Thankfully, I hate pills. I hate to take them. I even hate to take a Tylenol. Good thing I have a high pain tolerance.

4. The generosity of the prescribing physician doesn't help, few people use all that they buy....
so are left with many extras. Waste of money, temptation in a bottle.

7. I agree, however, you don't want to leave someone in pain.
All of my friends took all of their pain pills when they had their teeth cut out. Hell, I didn't even take most of mine when I had my C-Section. It depends on the patient and their pain tolerance really. You don't want to leave them hurting, but you don't want them to be shooting the pills for fun either. It is a sticky area. I think there is a generic dosage for certain surgeries, etc.

Btw, I have used some of my expired pain meds for migraines. They are expired, but still work. I still have 2 almost full bottles from my C-Section. I keep them on hand for migraine days (which is rare), but it really is about time to toss them.

5. But pain pills make you high?
At best the help with the pain, but in my case the stronger stuff makes me throw up. I literally preferred the pain of the broken bone to those pills.

6. They make you not feel, I suppose that is the attraction.

9. It isn't too different from getting drunk. Escaping maybe?

8. I agree, I don't like pills at all. But what makes you want to throw up makes
some one else have fun. Weird, really. Our bodies are all so different. I didn't like how mepergan made me so out of it. I didn't mind the Tylenol 3 or even my cough syrup that had codeine (that one was kinda fun, see what I mean?). People like strange things.

I like valium. My doc will not prescribe zanax, but when I fly, he will give me 5 of the lowest dosage of valium. I sleep well anyway, but sleep on valium is wonderful for me. I would never ever abuse it though. That is the difference between me and a whole hell of a lot of people. Many would love to abuse it.
