New Rule: If you're going to advertise your bar as an "Irish Pub" you have to serve something other
than chicken wings, nachos, and chili-cheese fries. How about Irish food? And, you have to have either Murphy's or Guinness on draft with a bartender that knows how to draw a pint.

23. However, in the OP,
there is no mention of Dingle. Therefore, the OP is about US-based pubs as the OP is in Ohio :P

Plus it's safe to assume this because what self-respecting pub in Ireland would serve "wings" and nachos? ;)

8. Ya gotta love it when they call it "Shepherds pie" and it is made with...
Sirloin steak!

That's a Cottage Pie, not a Shepherds pie. Shepherds Pie has SHEEP MEAT in it (either Lamb or Mutton) because alas, a Shepherd herds sheep!

I suppose it sounds better than "Drovers pie" or "Cattlemans pie"

I'm sure it is a lovely place.

There is a small chain around here called "The British Open Pub" ( a name used in other locales as well) that has pretty good English pub fare like Sausage Rolls, Bangers and Mash and Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding on Sundays.

35. Actually, I don't eat at many British or Irish pubs any more.
I did when I was married to a Newfie (native of Newfoundland) and she liked these places. There just aren't too many vegetarian dishes at traditional pubs ;)

I used to play darts with her some, so maybe I'll go back to the few that have such setups, like the Black Lab. They have a lot of the same items on their menu, too :)

like Great Big Sea :)

We did enjoy that one South Park episode where it was done like the Wizard of Oz and Canada had only one road. Although in Newfoundland, where they started, there was no road and no land! Everything was underwater :P

My past-wife would mimic "Newfie talk" sometimes, but, like listening to New Zealanders, I didn't know what was being said ;)

31. Never had a Guinness before
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 03:45 PM by RandomThoughts
Although I heard that the bartenders sign the beer foam in some of those bars.

Had some relatives travel to Ireland, but never been there myself, I plan on going there some day.

But I never really drank the heavy beers.

heh, saying some bar is an Irish, or Boston, or any other type of bar is putting yourself under that group in an organizations, best to not define any such correlations and move from one to another. Although I like the movie bar TV shows.

55. It will ruin you
Once you take that first sweet sip you will miss a decent pint of Guinness every day that you don't have one. The last time I was in Ireland I had one pint of Smithwicks (fantastic beer top notch I can't say enough good things about it) but that is one more pint of Guinness I could have had. My kingdom for a plate of seafood, a bowl of lamb stew and a pint of the black liquidation with the froth on the top.

63. heh, having a beer someday is not the same as trading some kingdom for it.
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 10:35 PM by RandomThoughts
I think there is a story of someone having said they traded some kingdom for soup, also something I would not do, but more importantly, I also would not hang around. nor respect, someone that demanded some kingdom for a bowl of soup.

However I also never wanted nor took a kingdom either, so that is not an issue anyways.

My point is both the idea of kingdom for something. Or taking a kingdom by giving something, are deals or trading concepts around things that should not be topics of trade. I don't do either of those.

If I have a beer, it will because I want to have a beer, not because I trade for it, if I have a kingdom it will not because I trade for it, nor because I make any deals for it.

So the whole concept makes no sense.

So having any type of beer will not ruin me. Nor will I give a kingdom for it, although some might lose a kingdom by there actions around that issue, or other similar issues.

Then again I might not have beer, I might not even have a kingdom. But I will have a beer again someday.

 But I also don't have any troubles, and many fun times.

Why do I find that ironic?

It is a comment based on a previous comment about how ironic it is that the far right goes against Sharia law while having their own Sharia law, I find that funny, but if you did not see the same context, it might seem like something else. But a few people that read both posts and see the soldier symbol on the shield, and T hair on the hats, and the cylon masks, would understand the irony of it. Then it shows what they think of as giving water is a bit different then other peoples thoughts on that topic.

The use of the word Someday, was a specific key for some I feel much empathy for.
Someday

64. Side note.
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 11:19 PM by RandomThoughts
The leader of Iran is a tank, he does say some things correct, but he also takes the agro for things behind him that set policies in that nation. And the question is, does he do the same he says others might do, just with a different angle on it?

Side side note, I say it is funny as a defense mechanism for the pain such feelings also has.

The use of the word Demorepoplate is an anomoly.

It does not make sense to have a word that has no easily known meaning in the song, and is not in every search for that song.

It may be an attempt to see who sees the video, or it may be a coded entry, or creation of new words in the english language.

It is interesting, and has a few sub meanings also. So it is really interesting.

Demo re pop late.

Dem o re po plate.

Dem o repo plate.

Could be seen a few ways.

Cold climate means crappy food. Warm climates have better food.

Compare:
Ireland
Scotland
England
Sweden
Norway
Russia

Thailand
Acadiana
Szechuan Province
Mexico
