I am just sitting here waiting for a stomach virus to make me sick.
My daughter started throwing up last Wed night and felt like crap most of Thursday. Poor kid had horrible stomach cramps with it along with a fever. The local Health Department closed her Jr High on Friday because more than HALF the kids and staff were out sick with this stuff on that Thursday. One kid that was actually at school that day made the comment that they were taking bets on who was gonna be the next to puke.

Hubby started vomiting Sat night and was almost hoping to die by Sunday morning. He had ten hours of vomiting and dry heaves, and a couple of times during the night I offered to drive him to the ER because he was sounding and feeling SO very wretched. He is home today in serious pain from the stomach muscles that got stressed by his dry heaves.

This shit is awful and I just know I'm probably not gonna be lucky enough to dodge it. I have been washing my hands every few minutes and I have been keeping pretty well isolated from my office mates so I don't spread it.

Fear for me, DU. I will probably start puking in the next 24 hours...

:scared:

2. That sounds terrible! My kids went back to school and brought us this lovely
cold and sinus thing that hurts from the top of my head all the way to the nape of my neck. If I thought I could pull my wisdom teeth out myself with a pair of pliers, I think I'd try it. x(

I hope you don't get that bug!

3. Call Roto-Rooter for your sinuses.
They can open up anything.

______

All joking aside, do you have much luck with sitting in a shower for a while? Does that help your sinuses feel better? If it does, you might want to think about getting one of those old style steam vaporizers to use in your bedroom when you have this kinda thing going on. Makes a huge difference for me. I also think that Mucinex helps a lot.

I HATE a sinus infection every bit as much as a stomach bug.

4. My biggest problem is that I have high blood pressure, so I'm not even supposed to
be taking the Dayquil that I have been sneaking.

The showers and whatnot help but only above my eyes. Nothing seems to get down into my teeth and ear area. :( And of course the kids didn't seem to have this problem. It's only been an issue for us parents. One small thing to be thankful for, I guess. Not having to deal with being sick like this and little guys who have it just as bad. :)

5. I have HBP too. The active ingredient in Mucinex is Guifenesin
Mucinex DM is:

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.

Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.

Which is the same stuff that is in the Coricidin HBP that we are allowed to take:

Coricidin HBP Chest Congestion & Cough, Non-Drowsy Liqui-Gels Active Ingredients: (in each softgel): Dextromethorphan HBr (10 mg - Cough suppressant), Guaifenesin (200 mg - Expectorant)

What a lot of folks do not realize is that Mucinex works on nasal congestion as well. It thins secretions so they run more freely.

Double check it with your doc or your pharmacist to make sure, but I think you can take Mucinex to help your sinuses.

Feel better!
