I bought myself a Mac and
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!

It's a 12" Powerbook with superdrive.

I so love my Mac. I feel like a religious zealot who has found a new faith.

Once you go Mac you never go back.

4. Things are easier on a Mac
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 11:43 AM by ikojo
You are so right. With Win-blows it's their way or the highway. My blows machine would lock up and I'd have to reboot often.

Let's not even talk about leaving it on for extended periods of time.

Now, my BELOVED Mac...I can leave it on for days and I do mean days and it does not lock up at all. I download on it, burn CDs do whatever and it keeps a kickin'.

I can actually do two tasks at once! Consider this...my Mac has a 867 megahertz processor and my blows machine...it had a 1Ghz processor. Whenever I tried to burn a CD it would lock up more times than not.

What a truly awesome machine!!!

I LOVE MY MAC

19. You should consider not always leving it on.

Computers are an "electricity suck", and they are better off (longevity) if they are not always up.

Any computers performance can slow over time if left on. I can't remember the name of the electromagnetic effect, but you should check out computer care links.

Your Mac will thank you.

13. I'm not a gamer
so that wasn't important to me. What was and is important is being able to multitask and not have the machine lock up and require rebooting. More and more games are coming to the Mac though.

Apple has opened a lot of stores across the country so I think more and more people will be making the switch from Microsoft to the Mac. That is how I became acquainted. I went into the store and saw how intuitive the Mac is and fell in love. I had a "special" birthday coming up and decided that this birthday required a big present from me to me and it was the Mac.

I download many, many Dead and Phish concerts from sharingthegroove.org. It's important to me that my computer work when I want it to. As a result of downloading shows I burn a lot of CDs.

I also love iTunes and the iTunes store, although they really need to add more artists and get away from the baby boomer stuff and the teeny bopper stuff. I was looking for some XTC (the GROUP from ENGLAND) on iTunes last night and they have nothing.

14. The rumors are....
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 12:10 PM by onehandle
The upper end PowerBooks will be bumped up in a few weeks. Faster G4s. Maybe (unlikely) a two processor model. A two processor model was spotted at Cupertino.

G5s are unlikely until late next year.

The best time to buy is just before new or upgraded models come out. You can save up to a few hundred bucks.

20. Thanks for the testimonial, ikojo.
I had started looking at Dell laptops. I always forget about Mac. There is a new Mac store about four blocks away. That sounds like a great place to spend a hot summer afternoon in Dallas. I should probably have a Mac.

21. To the Mac people
thank you for your tips on memory and other Mac care.

It seems that the Mac family is just that *family* (((((Macs))))

Coming from the Windows world I am very used to turning my computer off and on almost constantly. I shut my Mac down almost everyday. Since I take it to work it gets shut down on transit as well.

Hey....have I told y'all?

I LOVE MY MAC!!!!!

24. As a web professional
I LOVE my dual G-4 and my Ti-book.

OSX rocks! I'm running Apache webserver with PHP and MySql under the Darwin Unix shell at the same time as having the slick OSX gui interface for my graphics programs, Dreamweaver, Flash etc. It's a great machine. And hasn't crashed (the Ti-book) since I bought it (not counting getting hung on a bad rental DVD once or twice).
