1. An eight track? Nope. I only go back as far as the small cassettes.
When I was a freshman I had some grad school acquaintances though, and I think a couple of them had them in their beaters. The sound was pretty good, as I recall.

2. My first car
1978 Thunderbird with 8-track. Nothing sounds better than a Ka-Thunk in the middle of a song.

6. One of my H.S. buddies had come over to play some B-ball...
.
.
.
.
...and parked his car at the end of our driveway. He had JUST
bought Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality" and plunked the tape
into his car's 8-track player.
.
.
First cut? "Sweet Leaf" -- and when it started, it sounded JUST
like the player was LOUDLY CHOMPING on the tape.
.
.
By the time he raced to his car and yanked the door open, the
song continued past the "harsh-herb" coughing fit that started
out the track.
.
.
STILL funny to this day.
.

.

In my sporty little yellow Chevy Monza with the black vinyl top and V8 engine. Until someone broke into my car and stole it one night right under my apartment window.

Edited to add that I had a deck in the house, too. :hi:

13. I did, and it's ironic that you show it with a John Denver tape.
I was driving one day with a friend and I told him that one of my favorite tapes, "An Evening With John Denver" was messed up and wouldn't play anymore. He said he could fix it so it wouldn't bother me anymore, so I handed it to him. He turned it over and inspected it from all sides, rolled down the window and threw it out as we were driving down the highway. He was right. I never had anymore trouble out of that tape. 30 years later I found it on CD and replaced it. It's still one of my favorites.

14. Oh yes, I even had a 4 track player!
same tape cartridge but on 4 track the capstand was part of the player, instead of being part of the 8 track cartridge.

15. No 8 track in my car, but had a player....8 tracks were the work of the anti-christ
I rejoiced for years after cassettes came out. I had a cassette player in my car.

I only had 2 8 track tapes, Grease and Fleetwood Mac-Rumours. Nothing worse than in the middle of a song having to change from track 1 to 4 at the correct moment in order to hear the song I wanted to hear. I had it down to an art. Oh yeah, when the tapes jammed in the player, what a mess. Or when the tape "dragged".....hearing "You're the one that I wann, yyooouuuu aaareeee thooooowwwwwwmmmmmmmmmmm," I knew it was time to pull the tape out and commence the cleanup of tape out of my player. I don't miss them at all......

17. I had one with my record player.
I got a new record player(what would now be called a sound system) and color TV from Tom Peterson for my 8th grade graduation present and I was thrilled that it included an 8-track.

My boyfriend (now husband)had one in his car that he installed under the dash. The car was a 1963 Chevy Impala.

I went on my first date in that car. After my parents died and I was going through their house I found a piece of paper under the phone with the license plate number written on it. I surmise that if I had been late returning home my mom would have called the cops on us.
