People could smell trolls? People could predict the pizza? Really?

Then you read for years and you can spot them yourself. Sometimes there's a pattern. Sometimes they try *so hard* and still give themselves away.

I have never, ever accused anyone of trolling but I can smell the cheese pretty well now.

in a moderately polite P.M. that they put me on Ignore. This, also, turns into a masochistic exercise, since more often than not they reply with more of the same jerk-flaming, with the added topping of profanities. It's like, I know this-or-that will kneejerk-TRIGGER this-or-that kind of response, but ...what, gotta DO it!1

One time, the person (now very and long gone from DU) didn't even have the decency to appreciate keeping the conflict out of the public thread: She launched a campaign of flaming in the thread.

Now that I brought this (asking to be put on Ignore) up, I'm going to claim credit for that innovation. I say it was an innovation because the first few times I did it, the persons responded in shock, like, this was unheard of. The other thing I'm going to credit myself with is the "K&R #_" thing. Now I've done it: It will be tinged with unpopularity forever!1

not really, don't and never have had anybody on there - I don't use that feature

most in the buddy list are my guesses for future tombstones although sometimes I just use it to keep a name in my brain - I'm not very good at that sort of thing. I really wish there was a little added note feature there, or at least a multiple choice box so you could refer to why they are on your list (this might be good for the ignored lists too) like:

I put one person on ignore. Seeing their posts wouldn't have bothered me but I didn't want to forget my decision not to respond to the person anymore. If I couldn't handle a few heated arguments then I wouldn't go to GDP in the first place.
