Disney World
I leave in a few hours. Yeah, it's a long drive, and yeah, I know some of you hate Disney for a bunch of reasons--many of them valid. But I'm going to have fun and hopefully won't see you folks for a week. If I'm online here, I'm wasting the ridiculous fees I'm paying them. :)

So, give me the Disney advice you think I should know (I've been a few times, but not in six years), or tell me I'm a sappy pawn for loving the place, or tell me where I can find the Olive Garden... Whatever you see fit.

And if anyone has great ideas of where vegetarians should eat in or around the park, let me know. I've done the research, but I'd love suggestions I might have missed. I'm looking forward to dramatically overpaying for Boma.

2. Have a great time!
My advice-- don't ride the spinning teacups right before or after eating. (I haven't been there in years, so that was the best I could come up with!)

8. You'd love Romo Mountain.
It's one hell of a rollercoaster, but the damn thing keeps breaking down at the end... :smoke:

5. I hope you have fun.
:)

I have only been there once. I was bored by the MGM Studios, but I've never been a TV or movie person. I thought Epcott was a bunch of big product commercials masquerading as rides and exhibits. Disney should be required to pay visitors to have to endure Epcott. The other parks were nice though.

I have a friend who works in costume as one of the characters at Disney. I think she's dressed as Eeyore this year. Except in the Halloween parade. She will be Donald Duck's Opera singing aunt in the parade. I can't remember that character's name.

While you are down there, if you have time, you might want to head over to Universal Studios and check out the Harry Potter theme park that just opened 2 weeks ago. Everything is shiny and new. A bunch of our friends just came back from the grand opening and were really impressed.

10. I'd love to see the US Harry Potter park.
If I can afford it and have the time, I'll do it. I want to see if what they think butter beer tastes like is what I imagine it tastes like. :)

12. They have both hot and cold butterbeer, and my friends loved it.
The Pumpkin Juice tastes a bit candyish. But they liked that too. :)

6. Notwithstanding my personal feelings on the place, I hope you have a great time.
Different strokes for different folks, you know what I mean?

7. Everybody I know loves BOMA
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 04:31 PM by OmahaBlueDog
Every park has a fruit stand, so that should give you some snacking options

Before living in Nebraska, I lived in Florida for 22 years. I got my best Disney advice and news here:

www.allears.net

They probably have something in their vast storehouse of knowledge on vegetarian dining in WDW. I know Disney prides itself on being able to accomodate just about every dietary need on the planet.

Have fun. I envy you.

11. Thanks. One day I plan to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and not even go to the parks.
It's a good resort by itself, and Boma is rather unique, at least around where I've been.

13. AK rocks!
I've stayed there several times both pre and post kid. One of my best memories is my 2 year old getting up the first morning we were there, walking over to the window, pulling the curtain back and watching the giraffes. She then turned around, ran to my side of the bed and cried "Raffs mommy, raffs!"

Boma is good, but if you can, eat at Jiko. The food there is very good. I am not sure if the restaurants in the Disney Vacation Club section of AK are open yet, but you might check that area out.

AK has some lovely art work around the building. And of course the animals on the 3 savannas (4 if you count the new one built for the Vacation Club) aren't to be missed. There are some different ones in each of the savannas, along with some similar ones. For example the savanna straight out the back of the lobby (can't think of it's name at the moment) has some really funky cattle, Ankole cattle if I remember correctly.

Above all have a wonderful time. We hope to go back in a year or so.
