What is the permalink option for?

Because I just hit it after reading LFP's syphilis story and I wanted to bookmark it but hit permalink instead.

1. When you click permalink

the address in the address bar changes to whatever post it is you clicked in. Then you can copy and paste that link in another msg or browser and it will open that particular post within the thread.


I hope I didn't confuse you ..

for example.
Click permalink on MY post and then paste the new URL into another window .. it will take you to this post
