1. Interesting.
Most years I slice up a small watermelon, a honeydew, and a cantaloupe (or two, depending on relative sizes), cut them into about 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" cubes, throw them into an old giant-sized Tupperware bowl, seal it up, and refrigerate it all for a day or two, before serving it up and eating it. It holds up that way for several days, but if I have company, it doesn't last very long at all.

Never thought about adding pineapple cubes before, but that sounds interesting to me. Thanks!

2. It's gotta be the fresh pineapples
You gotta get one and slice that puppy up

And Mangoes too. I've got a taste for mangoes.

4. I love mangos. But they do not
Edited on Wed Aug-04-10 05:36 PM by Moondog
hold up as long as sliced melon, or pineapple, does.

Sounds great, but I think it needs to be prepared in smaller batches.

Having said that, I am ON it. Made an addition to what I laughingly call my grocery list, for Mangos ....

8. Red grapes add a nice touch to melon fruit salads
Be careful with the strawberries they don't hold up to the melon juice. Maybe add one or two at the last minute to your individual serving.

9. Agreed -- the strawberries don't hold up long to storage IN the salad. n/t

7. nature is telling you to stock up on the fruit while you can
This happens to me every summer. I crave cherries, blueberries, nectarines, raspberries, and more. I jam them into my mouth as much as I can, and freeze some too. By fall the craving is gone until next year! I think it's hard-wired in me bones. I crave watermelon too, but it's too too hard on my blood sugar.
