FIRE!!! (pic)
A snap from my sister's house. This is the living room, such as it now is. More pics may follow over time.

1. Damn, that's sad. I'm sorry for her and everyone involved.
Please tell her that an anonymous internet stranger wishes her the best as she recovers from this terrible episode.

3. Oh my god...
How heartbreaking...

Do they know yet what caused it?

I know you're there for them...I hope they can land on their feet.

4. I don't know what conclusions (if any) have been drawn
All I know is, this is the fourth house fire on the same block in the past three years. The last one was about four or five houses down the street, earlier this year. In my very unofficial opinion that says serial arsonist, but who am I to determine something like that??? For all I know it could have been a faulty electric device. Since neither of them smoke it can't be that kind of accident-- it could be almost anything.

5. That's interesting.
If they suspect arson, then they will be looking for fire starting materials (accelerants?) and stuff like that.

6. were all the houses built/wired/etc by the same contractor...?
I mean, especially in neighborhoods where all the houses are built by the same firm using the same contractors, specifications, etc there could be any number of commonalities shared by those that burn OTHER than serial arson. Might be good for folks on the block to talk with the fire chief and FD investigator.
