3. Her "charms" are lost on me
I didn't care for the "relentless self-promotion" thing when Madonna did it, and I care for it even less with this woman. Her recent Rolling Stone interview left me with the feeling that she's making a fortune by exploiting her own instability, which is "her life, her business."

Off topic...why did you post a photo of Vince Neil?

2. With the right stylist, photographer, lighting --
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 05:38 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
make-up/hair, and post work most of us could look amazing. Really, no joke. I did film/video print make-up for a living for years and I was always amazed at just what could be accomplished with the right team.

On edit: Jamie Lee Curtis did a great spread fpor a women's magazine with before and after shots, to show women the amount of work that goes on to create the illusion we see on film. Bless her for this:

And yes, that shot of Gaga looks fantastic. Kudos to her team.

I really don't understand the criticisms against Lady Gaga for wearing costumes while performing.

23. Debatable and mostly subjective, but one thing is for sure
She is no beauty queen on the inside. It will be interesting to see what she looks like in her 50's. I can't see it being anything on par with Curtis, but you'll probably have to tune in late night on an infomercial to find out.

I could care less about her flamboyancy. Some people like that sort of thing and that's fine with me. I just don't see her 'talent' living up to the hype. Before long, she'll be just so much yesterday's news like Aguilera, unless she turns into another Spears or Lohan and then people will just be tuning in to see her slow motion self destruction in progress.

26. you're comparing apples to oranges...
First of all...you can't possibly know what she's like personality wise.

Lady Gaga isn't even in the same vicinity of what Britney Spears or other female pope vocalists do.

Lady Gaga writes her own music and songs as well as plays the keyboard and synthesizes her music.

I'm not even that big of a pop fan but I really don't mind her music.

I like Tool, Nine inch nails, and Marilyn Manson and I think she'd fit in more there than with Britney Spears.

27. I disagree
She does write her music but she's just a pop star, like Britney. I actually think Britney is a better pop star, which is why she is still going strong after 11 years. Lady Gaga seems gimmicky to me. When I see her videos or performances, I feel like she trying to impersonate Madonna. Britney is just Britney.

The music Britney performs is pretty much the same as the music Lady Gaga performs. In fact, Britney recorded a few of Gaga's songs for her last CD.

28. Music categories are pretty subjective...
Nirvana has been on the pop charts...

I don't even pay much attention to what's popular or not.

I think Lady GaGa is more influenced by Elton John and Freddie Mercury.

31. I'm sure she's been influenced by many people
The Madonna influence is the one that's most apparent to me, both musically and visually. So much so that it sometimes feels like she's impersonating her.

I do enjoy Lady Gaga a lot though. She's one of my favorites (along with Britney and Madonna). I just think she overrated.

30. I can know as much as I need to know to draw that conclusion
If she's anything like what she portrays herself in public, she is not pretty on the inside. If she really is something different, then she's nothing more than a phony and still not pretty on the inside.

Her vocals are over produced. That's why she compares to Britney Spears, but whatever she compares to or doesn't, I just don't see her lasting very long. That's just my $0.02 worth which is probably not worth even that.
