Has a commercial ever turned you off to a product?
Me, it has. More than once.

For example, while I like some of the Geico commercials, one of the latest ones, with the Futbol announcer doing a chess game is extremely annoying. I hate loud noises, and the voice just grates on my nerves.

Any commercial which uses the higher end of the sound spectrum bothers me. I hate noise for the sake of noise!

There are plenty of these commercials around--which ones bother you?

1. Local ads
for car dealerships in particular. And pizza places. For some reason these people feel the need to SHOUT THE ENTIRE TIME AS IF THEY FORGOT THE BOOM MIC.

I love my TiVo. Never have to watch any commercials ever again.

7. Carl's Jr. and Kit Kat, to name two; also the latest Quizno's
In the two former, it's all the lip-smacking, glomping, chomping and mastication noises. If I ever have occasion to place a phone call to one of those companies, I want to be sure I'm noisily eating something.

As for Quizno's, my hand can't reach the "mute" button fast enough when their "Three Blind Mice" inspired latest jingle assaults my ears.

None of these companies will be getting one dime's worth of commerce out of me.

12. Quizno's had an ad where they used a dead bird in the cage for humor
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 04:04 PM by Kat45
The Quizno's chef was so busy working hard at the restaurant that he forgot to feed his bird. That pissed me off so much that I would not eat at Quizno's.

I almost would say Bud Light, because almost all their commercials show their customers as total assholes who I wouldn't want to be associated with--BUT I can't blame their ads for me not using the product. I had no choice but to have one at a concert and I would say that the beer tastes like piss, but I don't want to insult piss

I get really annoyed at commercials that imply use of a competing product means you're stupid or out of touch. The latest one from Pepsi where the 2 delivery drivers are at the lunch counter. Activia is the proximate brand.

If you're going to play it your way, you should actually refer to "those Jamie Lee Curtis commercials for Groupe Danone."

And on that note, I have completely exhausted my available time for ridiculous arguments of no importance whatsoever. I'll check back tomorrow after my batteries are recharged.

55. I have another one. Commercial for TUMS.

Caption: WHAT SHE SAID

The daughter comes into the kitchen and excitedly screams "Guess what? I got into one of the BEST schools in the country!" and does a little hopping dance with her mom while they both screech in joy while Dad sits there mawing dopilly on a sandwich, a look of vague disgust on his face.

Then the same scene is re-run with the caption WHAT HE HEARD

This time the daughter's line reads "Guess what? I got into one of the most EXPENSIVE schools in the country."

Message: Silly stupid females don't concern their pretty little heads with matters of finance. Men are left with the task of being responsible and figuring out how to pay for things. That's why they need TUMS, because their women are so irresponsible and dumb.

Other message: Fathers are too selfishly absorbed in concerns about their own financial futures to show even the slightest interest when their children receive some of the most exciting news of their entire young lives. Hell. This guy couldn't even be bothered to put down his sandwich.

HATE THAT COMMERCIAL.

I have some TUMS left in the cupboard but when it expires I will replace it with a competitors product.

72. I have to laugh at some of the picks!
I have a few to add myself!

Bowflex All those tanned and ripped bodies make me want to throw them into a lion's den. Except the lion wouldn't have much of a meal of them! And the price--I believe it's in the vicinity of $1500.

The Jenny Craig commercials AHHHH! Go ahead! try to make me feel less of a human being because I can't lose weight! The food is too damned expensive, anyhow!

The "Billy Mays is dead, so I'm pitching his spots for him" Anthony Sullivan commercials....These products don't have anything better to offer with Mays dead?

73. There is one recently, I've only seen it 2 or 3 times. Feminine hygiene product
placed on a saddle, wings of the product wrapped around the sides. It acts like one of those mechanical bulls, bucking slowly back and forth.

The bear with the toilet paper bits stuck to his behind is another one.
