1. I thought every week was "shark week" on the "Discovery" Channel system...
They could then cover card sharks, pool sharks, dice sharks and other scammers :D

2. Shark Week? Hell no, it's week 2 of Mad Men's 4th season. Where the hell are your priorities?
Shark Week may be some kind of secular humanist holiday where you live, buddy boy, but I choose to live in the past. Gimme more 60s skinny ties!

3. Eek
Sharks are my phobia. When I was three and crossing the Pacific on a ship with my family, sharks followed in the ship's wake. The captain told my sister and me he'd throw us overboard and let the sharks eat us if we didn't behave.

I won't be watching Shark Week.

4. Shark fun fact
When sharks give birth their bodies release a natural appetite suppressant that prevents them from eating their young.

"What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks, and that's all."

8. Hammerheads have ginormous brains (for sharks) and can "see" geomagnetic fields
...and the females swim in large groups so males can't corner a single female and pump her repeatedly so they have can share in the pup's DNA.

Studies show pregnant females in large groups only have the DNA from single fathers.

7. dum dum, dum dum, dumdumdumdumdum
And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'...

10. baby sharks are so cute!

my favorite shark fun fact

Shark Cannibalism and Early Life

The best-known intrauterine cannibal is the sand tiger shark. Although the sand tiger shark has two uteri and produces many eggs, each litter yields just two pups -- one from each uterus. That's because as the sharks develop their embryonic teeth, they start to eat the other embryos, killing their unborn brothers and sisters, as well as the unfertilized eggs. It's survival of the fittest in the womb, until only one shark remains. Because of their pre-birth diet, sand tiger pups enter the world bigger than other pups; they measure approximately three feet (one meter) long.
