1. in the south we call such places the casino

i don't know new jersey but having been to cape may/atlantic city ( i think this is southern new jersey maybe too far for you) i'm pretty sure you have poker rooms/casinos there open 24 hrs w. free booze???? or are they only in atlantic city? in my area, we have them EVERY FRICKIN' WHERE, you need never be alone even if you're immured in waveland, mississippi, there's a full bore "las vegas style" casino w. drinks and poker room steps away from your door...? i don't like "diners" or bars much myself but somehow if you're gambling, you're DOING something active, not just eating & drinking, i dunno, it's just more fun

there are also casinos now in pennsylania etc. i have this impression of new jersey just being a tiny state & you can drive wherever, i realize you have those stinky toll roads tho...

i've been in the casino every day for like 14 straight days so i'm the opposite of you, i'm glad to be away from folks for a change, ha ha

Not sure about the laws in NJ (some states don't allow un-monitored health clubs), but in PA, the 24-Hour Fitness is open 24 hours. We are joining this week - my SO likes to work out at odd hours, and the staff said that a lot of cops and fire fighters work out then.

My kids would go there after breaking set at 11:30 for Community Theater. They would play cards there until 2AM. They also met most of the local constabulary.
