1. How totally inappropriate
to wear your hair to please yourself instead of others. :D

3. I like long hair on both women and men, no matter their ages
Except for me. I have a buzz cut. It's more a matter of convenience, but I like the way I look with it, too.

10. Even you.
All people should have long hair. Pretty sure its in the constitution somewhere. And if it ain't, it should be.

8. Not if you wear a hat. And if you're going to wear a hat...
...might as well make it a cool one and not some generic baseball hat. :)

All I ever get are compliments.

What kind of asshole thinks it's their right to decide how (and when) a woman should wear her hair?

Oh, right, that kind.

Yay for your mom.

26. lol
I have to admit, the title of the thread made me do a double take to try to figure out exactly what she was talking about.

Now, knowing Lioness, I didn't think she'd be talking about her mother that way, but I think I would have understood it better if the title had been along the lines of "My mother's hair is so long it reaches below her waist". Or something.

I always thought it was cool.

My hair is almost to my waist when it's wet.

But I'm a 53 year old guy.

16. My German ex's grandmother in Munich...
.
.
.
.
...kept her hair up in a very severe bun, except when she let
it down to wash it.
.
It was down to her waist and GLORIOUS.
.
She was somewhere in her mid-to-late 60's.
.
.
When we'd visit, we'd bring her a bottle of Eierlikor (Egg Liquor) --
a pretty tasty and moderately strong drink SOMETHING akin to eggnog.
.
One shot and she giggled all night... we had to help her to bed
before she could finish the second.
.
She was a cheap date.
.
I'd pretend like my ex wasn't there and stagewhisper, "Oma, if you'll
just run away with me, I'll leave Hanne in a heartbeat."
.
She would stagewhisper back, "OK... but S-S-H-H-H!!! She'll hear us."
.
.
Aesthetically, she was... handsome. In reality... she was quite a beautiful woman.
.
.

22. Long hair looks great but what a pain in the ass to maintain.
I grew mine out for 7 years and I'll never let it past my ears again. It's hot, heavy, you go through shampoo faster, it gets in the food, on the furniture, and it's only good for thrashing around anyways.

I fully encourage others to have it though. :)

37. Easy to maintain, but such a pain in the ass!
Mine is ass-length. I'd cut it but I have zero sense of style so no idea for what to do with it, so in the summer I wear the "hair wad" bun on hot days and bitch about it. All my orchids (over 200) have hair in/on them. I sleep with it tied up so I don't get tangled in it.

Short hair requires styling, though. Can't win!

27. When I am an old man, I shall wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

and eat three pounds of sausages at a go

or only bread and pickles for a week

and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

When I am an old man I shall surround myself with fine old women that wear purple.

32. Amen to that. I got into a small tiff with an older lady at work a couple of weeks ago about
older women wearing their hair long and she was pretty appalled at the idea.

It's freaking HAIR - wear it however you like, it does not hurt me in any way.

People are crazy.

33. Likewise.
Currently my hair is long enough to sit on, and I'm still growing it. Don't have any plans to cut it when I'm old, either. Nor any plans to color it. I'm getting a few silver strands here and there already, and I like that color. As to whether anyone else likes it that way, or thinks that an old woman "shouldn't" have long silver hair, I couldn't care less. :)

Once when she was in the hospital, I walked in to her room and several of the nurses were watching (trying to learn) her put her hair up. I guess it's a lost art.
