Kirstie Alley shows off her snake oil
Edited on Tue Jul-27-10 06:15 PM by K8-EEE
Wow, this stuff costs $140 a month -- the "products" consist of ordinary supplements (Calcium/Magnesia, L-tryptophan, and a vitamin mineral supplement.) Anybody could buy equivalents of these at any health food store for prob $30 a month for all three. While some of them may be helpful none of them are necessary in order to lose weight.

I just find this vid fascinating. She seems to know that anybody who would buy it isn't all there; instructions include how to open a box!

1. I've been really sad watching her self-destruct. About ten years ago her career became "being fat"
instead of "being an actress".

I truly think that, while weight problems are a real issue for a lot of people, that Kristie decided a few years ago that her career was really going to be "get fat and then lose weight and then get fat and lose weight and so on" because it lets her keep writing books, showing up on talk shows, doing commercials, and selling shit.

Which is too bad. She's really a pretty good actor and could have continued in that vein if she hadn't given up.

2. Frankly I never could stand her
She's DAMN lucky Shelly Long was big-headed enough to walk away from Cheers IMO. This business of trying to sucker fat people, well, I guess it's all buyer beware but that doesn't mean I have to respect the snake oil saleswoman!

3. I once ran smack into her
at an antique store in Wichita. She had a huge arm load of quilts. This was before she morphed into a truck or I wouldn't be here to talk about it...

4. I used to run see her quite a lot (here in L.A.)

My daughter used to go to school in her neighborhood so I would often go grocery at the Mayfair store by her house (Angelinos: Franklin Ave in Los Feliz) and saw her in there quite often. The last few months she was selling Jenny Craig she was big as a house and claiming she was "within 5 pounds" of her 145 goal weight. Not that people don't lie about their weight but if you are a paid spokesperson, when does the lie become fraud? She definitely crossed that line with the JC stuff and from the looks of it is crossing it again with this stuff.
