Can you go blind from drinking old beer?
I posted on Facebook that I'm drinking a beer I found in the back of the fridge. Immediately my ultra conservative preacher's daughter old high school friend told me that her cousin almost went blind from an infection resulting from drinking old beer.

I'm thinking this girl lives in a bubble and believes all kinds of things. Reading her posts blow me away sometimes.

Is this even possible?

5. Yes:
Heineken, 12:34.
Then you shalt look upon it: and, behold, if the beer in be turned old, and it be in the back of the fridge; it is a blindness broken out of the burning of the body: wherefore the priest shall pronounce it unclean: it is the plague of Miller lite.

7. In the bad old days...
in the slums of NYC, there were illegal beer joints called 'blind pigs' that sold the dregs left in kegs at real saloons. Product was very cheap and could cause blindness among other problems.

Slumlords usually owned the 'blind pigs.'

8. They weren't called blind pigs for blindness
They were called blind pigs because you were charged to see an animal, i.e. the pig, and received a "complimentary" drink.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speakeasy

The term "blind pig" (or "blind tiger") originated in the United States in the 19th century; it was applied to lower-class establishments that sold alcoholic beverages illegally. The operator of an establishment (such as a saloon or bar) would charge customers to see an attraction (such as an animal) and then serve a “complimentary” alcoholic beverage, thus circumventing the law.

“In desperate cases it has to betake itself to the exhibition of Greenland pigs and other curious animals, charging 25 cents for a sight of the pig and throwing in a gin cocktail gratuitously.”

are in a mysterious place called a ‘blind tiger,’ drinking the very bad whiskey for which Prohibition is indirectly responsible.”

The difference between a speakeasy and a blind pig was that a speakeasy was usually a higher-class establishment that offered food, music, live entertainment, or even all three. In large cities, some speakeasies even required a coat and tie for men, and evening dress for women. But a blind pig was usually a low-class dive where only beer and liquor were offered.

9. To be safe, you could just adopt a policy of drinking whatever beer you find in your house.
That way, it won't have a chance of getting any older and possibly putting you at risk
