Anybody ever been to the top of the Sears Tower?
I'm going to Chicago on a one-day trip in November, and I've always wanted to go to the Skydeck. It's likely to be cloudy, though, I suppose, that time of year. Anybody know if I'd be able to see anything from up there on a cloudy day?

1. A cloudy day might limit seeing the city.
But the sky could still be beautiful.

I remember when I went up there. Very cool.

2. Be sure to check out the "Ledge"
A glass balcony that extends four feet beyond the side of the building.

4. I have many, many years ago.
Might as well go and check it out even if it is cloudy. It's free and you never know what you'll be able to see.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that ledge, tho. Way to scary for me! :scared:

12. Lot of smart kids died from that.
They, the smart ones, figured out how to get out of the crib but fell to their death. This left an excessive number of not so bright babies, who couldn't figure out how to get out of their crib, to mature to adulthood.

15. Sorry for the misinformation on it being free.
But it has been about 30 years since I went.

6. Yup. Loved it. Even if it's cloudy, it's still a thrill, and there is some interesting history
stuff on display up there.

7. 22 dollars.
And they give you reports on the % of visibility available. When I was there it was too cloudy to go for me.

These sad economic times are hitting really hard! It probably was about 30 years ago that I went, though.

17. Try the Hancock Building, 95th restaurant
The Signature Room on the 95th floor. Not much lower that the Sears observation deck.

#1. There are billboards placed at an angle on surrounding MUCH lower
buildings near the ESB that can only be seen from there. Yeah, eyesore...
but somebody was THINKING - enormous amount and a high turnover of people
to reach with your message. Wemt with my BIL, who was prez of a fairly
significant ad agency in Manhattan -- and this marketing was news to him.

#2. Guy with a stomp-press. You gave him your penny, he turned it into
a copper medallion with an imprint of the ESB on it. Just a buck -- but,
after the purchase of the press (and his probable leasing fees) -- pure
profit. He even used YOUR penny. He was nonstop busy (and the process
didn't take long at all).
