A couple of pics I took yesterday
Edited on Tue Jul-20-10 02:35 AM by MissHoneychurch
So my Hoya carnosa is finally blooming ... took some years but now :D

I remember when I was a kid we used to have a Hoya carnosa. And I loved it. So about 7-8 years ago I got one again. It took this long for it to bloom. I guess the place it is now is pleasing the plant :D

And the view from my bedroom window last night

3. Beautiful pictures MissHoneychurch
you are very patient to have waited 7 years for your Hoya Carnosa to bloom. Will it now bloom every year?

Nice skyline. What is the tower called? We have a similar one here in München, the Olympia Tower.

4. Thank you tNPIG

I knew it takes the plant a while to decide if it wants to bloom or not ;) So I waited patiently. I hope it will now bloom every year, at least I will do my best.

The tower is the Europaturm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europaturm

I have to admit though, that I am not really happy with the night shots. in both pics the main buildings are out of focus and I don't know why.

20. The flowers look like juicy candy
I think you need to put the camera on a tripod for the night shots and use a longer exposure. but others may have better advice.

22. In Germany
the plant is also called porzellan plant. Not sure it has anything to do with the flowers or more with the leaves.

My tripod is broken. I need to get me a new one. The longer exposure I might need to try that too. The pics were taken at between 5 and 8 seconds. I was thinking about an extern trigger as well. Why is photography such an expensive hobby? :P

29. Nice photos, MissHC!
I remembered a friend who moved away 14 years ago had a Hoya. I communicate with her by email and I'm going to ask her if she still has the plant. She was quite excited when it bloomed!
Have you seen this website about Hoya Carnosa? It's interesting how new plants are started from cuttings and passed to friends and relatives, and some people have had their plants for many years.
