Anyone with experience buying cars from lien sales?
I posted a few days ago about the trials and tribulations of having my husband of 25 years take off with everything I owned while I was in intensive care in the hospital.

That includes my truck. I have to find another reliable vehicle for cheap. I can't be making payments on anything now, especially since he cleaned out all the bank accounts.

Does anyone have experience with purchasing thru lien sales/government seisures, repo's, etc.? I found a site called seizecars.com, that looks to have a number of cheap vehicles in my area. They charge a one time fee of $49. When I google them for complaints, there's a bunch, but it looks to be mostly from their "affiliates". Any experience with them?

Any other websites that are good and reputable?

I had to break down and go rent a car yesterday, that of course is outrageous when you also have to buy the insurance.

I miss my truck. I loved my truck.

1. A siezure or repo will not have odometer certification.
No warranty. Literally buying "as is" which may or may not matter to you. The local Fox News here did a story promoting propertyroom.com a couple days ago. I would hope they would have checked them out to be legit before doing a story. Might be worth looking into.

Good luck, sorry to hear about your truck.

3. You are buying someone else's trouble
Lack of maintainence, abuse, not repaired well or on a timely basis. It does'nt sound like you can afford that much trouble. Talk to a lawyer about pursuing X-hubby. Look on Craigslist, or ask around yourself among friends for a cheap car. It'll be ugly, and maybe a gas guzzler - but I've gotten good ones for under $1000. And I perfer car with a big, obvious problem or 2 - like bad tires or a broken windshield.

4. Firstly, I'm incredibly sorry that you went through what you did..
that's about the worse story I've ever heard. I also need to buy an inexpensive car very soon as my 2008 Nissan which I LOVED was totaled two weeks ago. I'm also exploring things like repos, and even salvaged cars (but my research on salvaged cars has made me decide to eliminate that as a possibility). I don't know anything about liens. I have looked at Craig's list and it seems like there's some hope there. I do know this. If I buy from an individual, I'm taking it to one of those garages so they can really check it out to ensure that it's solid. I hope you can do the same. I wish you much luck.
