Best movie I've seen in years, by a very wide margin. My mind is still trying to wrap itself around that movie, in a very good way. There's never been a movie quite like this one, and there will never be one quite like it again.

I don't think my vocabulary is big enough to describe how much I liked it, so here's my reaction in thumb form:

12 thumbs up. I loved it. Go see it, if you can.

2. I'm going to try my best to see it this weekend. I LOVE movies
like this (at least from what I've read about it). Thanks for the review!

4. Any time!
It's definitely a unique movie, different from anything I've ever seen, and yet it's a distinctly Christopher Nolan movie. I doubt we'll ever see another movie quite like this one.

3. I was just consistently amazed at the things that were happening in the movie.
Some of the visuals were spectacular, and the ending was so pitch-perfect for the movie. Very highly recommended. :hi:

5. I saw an interviewer jibe DiCaprio, saying "Isn't Inception too smart"?
That alone makes me want to see it.

6. It's a very smart movie. Very smart.
It will make you think. I'm STILL thinking about it 3 hours later! But I don't think it's too smart. Sure, you have to pay attention to where the story is going or else you'll get lost, but it's not difficult if you think the movie is interesting like I did.

Best movie I've seen all year, that much I know for sure. :hi:

9. I'd like to see it again in IMAX as well.
Seems like it would be even cooler to see on the big BIG screen!

10. It's a movie you need to see several times to 'get it'.
Edited on Sat Jul-17-10 07:33 PM by Avalux
I LOVED it, but have already decided I need to see it again and again because like you, my mind is still going. There's a lot left unsaid; not explained...intentionally. Very clever. :toast:

Yes - go see it!

13. I agree with you there, I'm definitely gonna see it a couple more times.
I was so excited to just finally see it yesterday that I was just watching it for the sake of watching it. Next time, I'm gonna try to look for all the little things I might have missed on my first viewing. :toast:

11. Definitely going.
Just don't know when. Have to get a babysitter and want to wait for the crowds to die down. We always go to the earliest showing on Sunday mornings.

finally a film for adults with brains. I also like the way the director used Edith Piaf, very self-reflexive.

15. As I said in the other thread, it's a 4.5 star movie until the last few seconds make it a 1.
I'm so utterly fucking sick and tired of that cliche.

It's not "mind expandingly awesome!" any more - it's just lazy, uncreative, shitty writing.

16. I guess I'll have to go to IMDB to find out what the film is about
I have no clue what it's about, haven't seen any previews and until I saw DiCaprio's name in this thread, didn't even know who is in it.

Why must I leave DU to find this out?

18. Well... (slight spoilers)
No one actually "dies" in the movie, though there is the idea of death within the dream world. The answer is yes and no, so you'll just have to see for yourself to find out what I mean by that. :P

20. Just got back from it
Loved it...keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time

Don't get discouraged by the first 10 or 15 minutes where there is stuff going on and you feel like you just walked into the middle of the movie instead of the beginning. It gets better after that.

Kinda off topic here:

My daughter works in the movie theater and said some lady called up there today telling them that she had seen it yesterday but that she "didn't understand it" so she wanted to be allowed to see it again for FREE...yes, free. They told her no, that that could not happen.

SO she continued with "but I am disabled and I had to scrape together the $5.00 the first time to see and I have no money". She saw it for $5 because she went to the early bird show of the day where the first showing of any movie for the day is $5.
Again, sorry, but NO.

I am not trying to make fun of her but after hearing all of my daughter's other "I want my movie for free" stories, this one is pretty much at the top of the "are you kidding me" list.

Previous "reasons" given by customers for different movies:

1) 10 minutes before a movie ends and a woman comes out wanting a refund because "I didn't like the movie". It was one of those teenagers-lots-of-sex movies---her husband stayed and watched the rest of the movie cuz he, um, liked the movie.

2) "I saw a fight between 2 people in the parking lot after the movie and it made me worry for my safety...I want a free movie ticket for next time" (no, the caller was in no way involved or injured..just "it ruined our evening")

3) Drink 3/4 of a drink and come back saying how awful it was and you want a refund or another free drink.

Pretty much any excuse will do if the customer threatens to call the corporate office. I've told my daughter I'm gonna start going to her theater chain but to a different theater and pull this "give me free..." shit. Couldn't very well get away with it at her place since they all know me!

22. I liked it too, though not 12 thumbs up.
My wife summed it up best: she kept waiting for the action scenes to end so they'd get back to the story.
