Snatching defeat from the fucking jaws of victory - AGAIN (a rant)
We live in the coolest condo ever. Awesome landlady, 3 bedrooms (one is my office, another the s.o.'s music studio), tons of natural light, AC (rare in these parts), a working fireplace, killer location, and a roof terrace.

The s.o. had some run-ins with the couple on the third floor (we're on the 4th and top floor, one unit per floor), partly having to do with the terrace and extensive repair work to be performed on it. After much crap and mediation from our owner, the other guys decided they didn't want to use the terrace after all, leaving us as the only party allowed there. So far so good.

But after all the stress and bullshit, the landlady has decided to sell her condo. She's giving us the first shot at buying it, but unless I win the lottery or she takes a huge loss on it, there's no way I can afford it. She told me she had planned on selling it after we moved out, but now she's thinking she should unload it now before she has to spend serious bucks to redo the terrace. Because of the laws here, we wouldn't have to be out until next summer at the earliest, but I'm pissed about the whole thing. The s.o. pushed and pushed and pushed some more, and just when we should have been able to stay here and have the terrace to ourselves, this happens - talk about a broadside.

I feel like this is going to happen again and again no matter where we go, as long as we're together - but the catch is, I'm sponsoring the s.o. (immigration) and have a 3-year engagement to the Canadian government, and one very important clause of that engagement is that the s.o. cannot be at any time on the public dole. And it's much cheaper by far to live together. Never mind the fact that the s.o. won't even look for a job, of which there are scads.

All to say is, I'm sick of this shit and I want it to stop. I'm almost 50 and I can't deal with any of this anymore. :(

End of rant.

1. So sorry you have to move. I know it takes a while to find a good rental property.

3. Won't even look for a job? And has messed up your living situation?
The s.o. needs a kick in the pants or a kick to the curb, IMO.

Sorry you're dealing with a crappy situation...
