Mike Judge to (Possibly) Bring Back "Beavis and Butt-Head"

It has been over 12-years since Beavis and Butt-Head were airing new episodes on MTV, but most people can still instantly recognize the unique “huh huh, huh huh” laugh of Butt-Head, or the “fire, fire!” cries from Beavis. The show produced 200 episodes over seven seasons, a feature movie, and now it seems that the trash talking duo are about to make their TV comeback on the network that made them- and creator Mike Judge- famous.

Since the end of the series, Judge has been a busy guy. He wrote and directed several movies including the cult classics Office Space and Idiocracy, he created King of the Hill and has leant his voice to several animated shows. The guy has been busy. Now, according to Reviewniverse, Judge is hard at work to bring back Beavis and Butt-Head for a slot on MTV’s new primetime lineup.

Recently MTV has begun to limit their once rampant slew of reality shows like the recently cancelled The Hills, in favor of scripted programming like The Hard Times of RJ Berger.

According to the report, Judge will keep the original show’s low budget look, and the format will remain true to the original episodes, where Beavis and Butt-Head comment on music videos. The show will feature current music videos, but the format will be the same.

I really want this to work so very, very badly. But then, I can't help but think of the relaunches of other "adult-oriented" cartoons like Ren and Stimpy and Family Guy and how far downhill the quality went.

But in the end, I think I just want to see which modern music videos they'll make fun of.

5. I just want to say, "Fuck You Mike Judge!"

I bought your suck-ass videos of Beavis and Butthead. All of them. In a set. Paid a fuck-load of money for them.....

And then I found out that you fucking did not get the rights to the videos that B&B commented on for DVD release. Which means that the B&B episodes were all reduced to lame-ass shit...no brilliant commentary of the latest Kate Bush dreck--no invocations of Pantera, no dissing of Rush.....NONE of what made B&B great....

Fuck you, Mike Judge....Don't you dare bring back the boys without securing the fucking rights for DVD!!!!

7. I love Beavis & Butt-Head and really miss those boys, but

I'm not sure how well it would work now, particularly if it will feature current music videos (unless of course they say they all suck). Those guys are metalheads; the show aired before Headbangers' Ball. There isn't much of that music around now in the mainstream, and I think the show would work better with it. Though many are unaware of it, many of those bands are still around (or back again), but it's very doubtful that their videos would be shown on B&B (if they are even making videos these days). Despite my uncertainty as to whether or not it will work, I hope he does bring B&B back. I'd love to see them again.
