Poll question: Would you rather sweat to death and die from the heat, or would you rather freeze to death?

1. Long-sleeve shirts during the day
Jackets at night, maybe a scarf. That's perfect weather for me.

4. If I had to choose between -60F and 110F.
I'll take the 110.

Having your eyelids trying to freeze to your eyes is way overrated.

7. actually freezing seems more peaceful
just fall asleep - in the heat you can suffer quite while before you lose conciousness

nevertheless I really like summer better than winter even though it is probably harder on my fat ass than cooler weather

11. Responding to the question in the post:
Freeze to death vs. die from heat.

I'd rather sweat to death and die from the heat instead of freezing to death in the same way that I'd rather die by carbon monoxide poisoning than drowning in a vat of acid.

One is more comfortable than the other.

My favorite scenario:
Tiger or piranha's ?

Tiger--bite to neck: broken neck, choke out, or bleed out.
Piranha's--lots of bites that really really hurt. At some point they stop hurting, but you're still not dead.

One's kinda cool(tigers are cool). The other sucks.

But back to heat v. cold. Everybody loves a cold sunny day when you know you are not gonna die. Nobody likes the big heat.

14. Is that scientifically based?
I ask because I don't know. I've come close to heat stroke a few times (may have had one) and it is very painful. I've heard of people dying from heat exertion, and it's not pleasant to hear about. They gasp for air, they have extreme headaches, and their organs start failing. I've heard that people who freeze to death just go to sleep and die. Is that not right? Again, I ask because I don't know.

17. You ask me?
That is mistake number one!

I don't know. You may be right.

I haven't been so hot, or in a place so hot(Saudi Arabia once. A dry heat..) I thought I could die.

But I've been places where it's so fucking cold that death (if I wasn't properly attired- (Minnesota/Alaska)) is right around the corner.

Shivering away to the point that I go to sleep seems awfully terrible.

I'd take a tiger over either. :-)

16. Whatever your region is used to, that's the best.
I live in Texas. When it's hot, we all go indoors, walk in the shade, fire up the car AC, dress appropriately... in other words, everything around us is det up for us to handle the heat.

But let it get below freezing, and we have no idea what to do. We can't drive on snow (unless you're talking Amarillo, but I'm not), we have no heavy clothing, our heaters aren't meant for it, fireplaces are for mood, mostly...

If you are where your profile says, i can imagine extreme heat is no fun. Around here it's okay. It's not so much that I enjoy being in 105 degree sunshine, it's just that I'm used to it so I don't think much about it. I can walk around outside all day in the heat, but put me in the cold, and my body just isn't used to that type of suffering.

22. Freezing is supposed to be less pain. uncomfortable, but less pain.
I've been exposed to hypothermia, which is five-ten minutes of shivers, with growing numbness, and sleepiness, and had heat stroke which, unless you pass out, is a half an hour or so of pure gut-wretching, head pounding misery while they try to cool you down.
I'd rather fall asleep and not wake than get my brain baked again.

23. Winter is good for you. It builds character.
When it's below zero outside, everyone has the same goal: get inside where it's warm. Hence, in the bitter freezing cold of January, you have no enemies. It's too damn cold to mess with anybody. There's a reason crimes are low when it's cold out.

I love winter, because it's freezing and it sucks. I think it brings people together, a little.
