Need help picking out a funny video to rent
I know there are a lot of movie posts, sorry, but this one is kinda specific.

I'm feeling kinda down today, maybe because of the weather, and I thought it would be a good idea to rent a funny movie for my mom and I to watch. I have no idea what to rent though. Any suggestions? Also, I'm kinda sensitive so I don't like movies that (either subtlety or blatantly mock minorities, homosexuality, women, ect. I hated Old School and was even somewhat turned off of Pirates of the Caribbean because of Jack Farrow's "eunuch" remark. Can anyone else here relate to that (being so sensitive)?

1. Don't even apologize
for being so "sensitive". We all have different trigger points. And in recent years, what's considered acceptable is to cross the line. Simply look for movies that are twenty or so years old. The Odd Couple(1968) with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau is one of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen, and it still holds up. In my opinion.

Is there a good independent video store you can get to? The staff there ought to be knowledgeable and trustworthy.

If you're in the Kansas City area, Hollywood At Home on Metcalf Ave is a treasure.

Canadian Bacon (1994) with John Candy, Dan Akroyd, and Rhea Perlman. Another wonderfully funny flick.

3. you might add
that it was written by Michael Moore.

However, I say you should rent Southpark: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Hands down one of th funniest, most irreverent movie ever made.

4. The Bird Cage
Hysterical. Although it's about gay people, it doesn't make fun of them. Quite the opposite.

Also, there are plenty of fun old movies that don't put down minorities. Any Marx brothers movies would be good. Horsefeathers, A Night at the Opera, Coconuts. Another fabulous old movie is Harvey. It isn't hug your ribs funny, but it is funny and very, very uplifting. Brining up Baby is really funny.

6. "Kiss Me Guido"
It's about an Italian guy from Brooklyn(?) who moves into an apt in Manhattan when he sees a roommate ad and thinks 'GWM' means 'guy with money.' It takes him a while to realize that the guy is gay, and though he's no stranger to homophobia, he does move into the apt and ends up becoming good friends with the guy. That description doesn't do it justice; the movie is really funny.

That movie made me grin from ear to ear for 2 hours. :D

Jack Black has two problems:

1) He desperately needs to come up with his share of the rent, but he's just been kicked out of his band

2) He desperately wants to enter the Battle of the Bands contest.

His solution: Pretend to be his roommate to get a substitute teaching job! Let's just say the curriculum undergoes a sea change!

Plus the kids are really talented and do play their own instruments.

17. Kung Pow (Enter the Fist).
This is a blend of an original Hong Kong Kung Fu movie with added scenes and the dialog replaced. I almost choked on my popcorn while watching it.. I liked it so much I went out and bought the DVD!
Hope you feel better very soon.
Cheers!

19. "The Tall Guy" with Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson
The story of an up-and-coming American actor trying to make it in London's theater district, "The Tall Guy" starts out as a slapstick comedy and ends up viciously skewering Andrew Lloyd Weber. Easily one of the funniest films I've ever seen!
