And let me say this about all this. Clearly, even here at DU, at least a certain segment of humanity is hard-wired to worship some kind of supposed aristocracy, who aren't supposed to be treated like the rest of us little people.

There were many Frenchmen and Frenchwomen who shed tears when Marie Antoinette was driven up to the guillotine who never shed a tear when their fellow-citizens -- their fellow-family members even -- died in the Famine of 1787.

Should people go to jail for drinking? No. Should people go to jail for DUIs? Even that's debatable. But as the average person goes to jail for far less than La Lohan does - probation is no joke - wherefore all the tears when she does too?

You betcha and the sentence Ms. Lohan received was fair and not in anyway out of the ordinary of what us "little people" would have gotten under the same circumstances. I used to work for Parole and Probation. Three, 30 day consecutive sentences, inpatient treatment and continued probation with a no alcohol condition of probation and regular UAs is a pretty standard sentence. She probably won't serve the entire 90 days unless the judge specifically requests that she be held for the entire sentence though.

Maybe she'll pull her head out this time and realize that this sentence might just have saved her life.

2. She has had every chance and does not get it yet. Jail may actually save her idiot life...

She actually seemed to have some talent at one time, and I hope this experience will get through to her...she has ignored a lot of opportunities before...maybe this time will do it.

I imagine that what may be inferred as "aristocratic worship" to many people may just as validly be little more than an illustration of simple respect (i.e, six of one, half a dozen of the other). I would hazard that part and parcel of that perception depends on the amount of civility and respect we ourselves hold towards others, regardless of station, income or career.
