Any fans of the Spielberg/Hanks "BAND OF BROTHERS" series here?
"Saving Private Ryan" is probably the best 3 hour WWII movie in existence, but the ~10 hour "Band Of Brothers" series may be the last word in WWII film-making. I've probably blazed through 50 WWII films during the last 6 months and I've never seen anything like it.

I gladly paid $90 to own this series on DVD. It's just excellent.

1. It was (and is) excellent
I love the parts where they talk to the actual guys about their experiences. It's very moving.

2. I would be the guy in the foxhole screaming with his hands over his face
:scared: War does not look like anything in which I would want to participate.

4. Excellent series

Although sometimes it's painful I watch the whole series probably about 10 times a year.

5. It starts on the History Channel in April
The 11th I think.

This was, by far, the best thing I've ever seen on television. I taped it all and I must have watched the entire thing at least 4 times! I love it.

6. I agree...
as a WWII historian, I expect realism, and all of the films you listed were great! I hate watching films that use American Korean war era tanks as German tanks, it just kills it for me. One flaw with the Tiger I in "Saving Private Ryan" however was that it had the idler wheel of a T-34 as the drive sprocket, but it was still pretty damn close.

8. I'm a great fan. But I have reservations about what the History
Channel is going to do when it melds the current Iraq war with "Band of Brothers." Are we going to be left with a subtle propoganda piece?
