4. That is a winner so I'm left to what I can recall and it is none other than
Branded

All but one man died.
There at Bitter Creek.
And they say he ran away.

Branded, scorned as the one who ran.
What do you do when you're branded, and you know you're a man.

Wherever you go, for the rest of your life
You must prove, you're a man.

Full song

All but one man died,
There at Bitter Creek,
And they say he ran away ...

Branded!
Marked with a coward's shame.
What do you do when you're branded,
Will you fight for your name?

He was innocent,
Not a charge was true,
But the world will never know ...

Branded!
Scorned as the one who ran.
What do you do when you're branded,
And you know you're a man?

And wherever you go
for the rest of your life
You must prove ...
You're a man!

55. Absolutely - The Monkees
Watched it at 7:30 to 8 pm on Monday nights followed by long telephone calls with my girlfriends to discuss the episode. I remember once that TV God had messed up the listing and there were many hours of impassioned calls prior to 7:30 to discuss the implications - was it going to be on, was it a re-run, what had happened? - followed by hours more afterwards to say how relieved we all had been that the show had been on. Good times!:hippie:

26. My childhood hero, Chuck Connors in "The Rifleman".
I grew up without a father which is always hard, but it was hard in the late 50s and early 60s for a boy. So Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain, raising a young boy about my age, became a father figure for me. In the era that the show aired it was unusual for a father to be as openly loving toward his son and there did seem like a real bond between the two of them.

In 1986 I read that he was in the hospital and I had this fear that he would die so even though I was about 34 I wrote him a letter about how much he meant to me growing up as a young boy without a father. He wrote me back a nice letter saying how honored he was to be able to play such a part of my life along with this photo and it really meant a lot to me:

50. I remember it well. I think that he really got type-cast from having played Lucas McCain so well.
Chuck Connors was certainly not a great actor, but he should have had more of a career being a handsome, rugged guy. That being said, few actors will ever play a role for which they will always be remembered so well and fondly as Chuck Connors had playing Lucas McCain.

True story.

I loved the Rifleman and Branded. They were not your usual western fare and had some very thoughtful storylines. And Chuck Connors always seemed like a really cool guy to me. Thanks for your story confirming that indeed he is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX2oZ6Kv_qo

Wow, I've remembered that for most of my life, for nearly 53 years now. Tv shows don't seem to have memorable theme songs or music anymore. I can think of shows like The Andy Griffith Show or Rawhide or lots of others.

38. The Jack Lalanne Show.
It's really the only one I remember from the sixties. :) I remember lying on the floor of our old wood framed pier-and-beam house in Bay St. Louis and watching Happy, and since we had a German Sheperd, too, I loved the show. One of my earliest memories. We moved from there when I was four, so I was pretty young.

I also remember watching "The Courtship of Eddie's Father," because one of the characters was named Duffy, and my cat was named Duffy, but I don't remember it clearly. So I'm sticking with Jack.

I guess if you mean what show from the 60s is now my favorite, I'd go with Star Trek, or Gunsmoke, though if I thought about it long enough I might remember something else. One Step Beyond, maybe.

48. Nobody said Bewitched???!!!
I mean, I love a lot of the shows mentioned - Star Trek, Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Love 'em still. And others - Laugh In, The Monkees, I Dream of Jeanie.

There were some great fantasy series in the 60's that I really miss. Colorful. Surreal. Fantastic. Shows that entertained the imagination. Don't know of any recent or current shows that do this.

But of all of those that did in the 60's, Bewitched had to be the best. Wonderful characters - Sam, Endora, Aunt Clara, Uncle Arthur. Plus magic and the mythology of witchdom. And funny. My vote goes to Bewitched, with Trek, Lost in Space, and the Land of the Giants close behind.

53. Beanie and Cecil was my first favorite from the 60's!
After that, it gets a bit harder!

I love Star Trek...actually didn't see many episodes in the 60's...my dad didn't like it and we always watched what he wanted...I fell in love with Star Trek in the 70's on reruns after school.

During the 60's my favorites included (not in any particular order):
F Troop
The Man From Uncle
Perry Mason - because of the show, started reading the novels, fell in love with murder mysteries...been hooked on them since! Now I'm into all kinds of dead body shows, real crime and the commercial shows!
The Monkees
Time Tunnel
