We have free trash pickup here in Denver. They would come by and empty our dumpster once a week and they would have LIP (large item pickup) every five weeks.
Because of budget constraints, we now only have trash pickup every other week and LIP every 9 weeks. Now our alleys are TRASHED. We live right on the city limits and people from the next town over comes to our alleys to dump their mattresses and couches. It's very depressing.
How do I go about proposing a trash tax for this city? We sure need it and I think we would have no problem getting it passed. Our alleys are a mess, something needs to be done.
1. I agree trash is one of the last things that should be cut.
I understand the dumping of mattresses and Christmas trees but it always amazes me the sheer number of Large screen tv's (old style with tubes) that are next to the dumpsters every monday.
there is always someone willing to adopt it and keep it out of the landfill. But I do have to admit, as time marches on, less TVs are getting picked up and not as quickly as a few years ago.
