1. Additional (or corollary) question: How ashamed are you that your friends
are constantly being bombarded with little notes and updates telling them how well you're doing in your games?

3. No I have seperate account for games
Edited on Fri Jun-25-10 02:55 AM by cherish44
so everyone else that is friends with me on that account also plays. I'd be way too humiliated to let my real life friends see how much time I waste on those things lol

4. that's what I did
I had something like 600 friends on that account; I actually knew maybe 4.

But I don't play FB games anymore, so it sits unused

11. I have WAY more gaming friends than I have friends on my "real" account
There a many in the same shameful situation as me. Oh gotta go...crops are ready!

9. I wish some of my "friends" would do that. A couple people on my list
do NOTHING on Facebook but play games. And I don't care to hear about it.

12. there's a way you can block those posts
I think. Anyone know? "Block application" feature? I think I did block Mafia Wars from my main profile because I had too many friends who played it and I had to sift through them to see the other posts (and that's what inspired me to create a separate account for games!)

15. when it appears on your wall
mouse over the top right of the post. It will say "hide." You can then select "hid *whatever*"

It REALLY cleans up your wall

21. Yeah, I block 'em, but it seems like new ones keep coming all the time.
Seems like every time these people try a new version of one of the games, I have to Hide posts about that game. Eventually I have to hide the person completely.

It's not even, like, fun.

But somehow I can't stop clicking. :o

5. Used to play FV and MW
but I don't play anything anymore. I've switched to Improbable Island, a hilarious text-based MMORPG. It actually has writing, real gameplay, and a solid social community.

But I will say that FB games got me through the first two months of my unemployment

8. Only Bejeweled Blitz
Bejeweled is a longstanding addiction of mine; FB just fed it.

I have never been interested in FarmVille and its related ilk, so I escaped those time sucks, thank goodness.

14. Farmville, Mafia Wars, Frontierville
I wish I had never started any of them.

Now I'm this close to creating a separate account so I can keep gaming feeds separate because I need my own account for networking.

BTW I am always in need of neighbors.

16. Mafia Wars. Absolutely loathe myself.
I was recently recruited by a clan, too. I find myself actually taking the game somewhat seriously now. Argh!

and, no, I'm not interested in deepening my involvement - I've already slowed down on gifting because I just don't have the time.

18. Yeah.
While it's made the game a lot more fun and involved, it requires more time investment.

Gifting is, and always will be a big pain in the ass. I use Chucker for sending a number of items at once, but the mystery bags, etc all require so many clicks. Ugh.

19. Never heard of Chucker
I'll have to look into it. The worst thing was that they recently switched on gifting and even job helping to where you have to click to accept the gift, and then click again to confirm you want it.

No, you friggin' idiot, I clicked on accept the gift the first time because I didn't want to accept it, and or, No, I really didn't want to help somebody on a job in my Mafia. I just didn't want the gift, money or XP. WTF?

22. Thanks
I'll look into it when I get home. I can't believe I'm close in level (around 450) to all those DUers I was getting Mafia Wars advice from 5-6 months ago.

They still haven't solved my gifting problem, though. No response to repeated emails.

Seems a lot of folks stopped playing (wonder why :eyes: Zynga). Shark Tank at Level 451, don't forget. I think I've got 6 levels to go.

The glitches? The fact that robbing is one big clusterfuck? They're rolling out Vegas and it's just going to break the game further?

27. a lot of little things
but, mostly the time it takes to keep up with gifting. And, frankly, some of the higher level jobs that take 100+ energy and give you only 1% mastery make the game boring at times (Moscow) - run down your energy after using your daily energy pack and you have to wait hours just to do the job one more time to gain 1% mastery (I burned through all my reward points the weeekend they had double-mastery, so I would at least get 2% on that last level in Moscow)

Robbing seems too random to me - when I used to do a lot of fighting, I could tell I would win most of the time because I would pick on the people with small mafias. (I'm such a bully) With robbing, you get Easy, Medium & Hard and sometimes, I'll fail on the Easy ones and succeed on the Hard ones...

28. Agreed.
A pure Energy account goes through Moscow (and parts of Bangkok) easily. For that very reason I left Moscow and started the lower levels of Bangkok because the jobs had lower energy requirements.

self-hatred...not really, but I know I need a life. It's pretty bad, I actually use my old kitchen timer to remind me when cafe world dishes are finished. Next dish will be done in 5 hours 22 minutes.
