Yesterday, Ivan the tuxedo cat brought home a dead baby bunny. I was not pleased. Today,
he brought home a piece of fried chicken

I know cats hunt; Ivan (a beautiful tuxedo) doesn't do it a lot, but he still does bring home critters every now and then. I don't ever get upset with him; after all, it's feline instinct. And he goes absolutely apeshit if I try to keep him inside all the time, so I let the furry bugger out during the daytime.

But anyway, I asked him yesterday to please quit killing the critters, as it breaks my heart.

So today I see him trotting home with something in his mouth and cringe. Go outside to meet him (because he ALWAYS tries to bring his catches into the house) and lo and behold, he is not carrying a dead chipmunk, bunny, or mouse, but he is proudly carrying a piece of crispy KFC. KFC has a distinct odor, and it was indeed KFC chicken that Ivan feasted on.

I think the neighbors had dropped some (or put it out for one of the farm cats around here); the nearest KFC is 5 miles away and we live in rural farmland.

3. Our male cat Dingo brought us a dwarf hamster..
I will die not knowing how a Campbell's Dwarf Hamster came to be wondering the wilds of Manhattan Beach, but at least one was. Our male cat Dingo brought one in to the house while I was on a burger run, and my wife and daughter released the unharmed critter thinking it was a "really cute short tailed mouse". The next morning we noticed both our kitties bracketing a small wood pile on the side of our house. Sure enough the cute mouse was holed up there. Research was made, cages and tubes were bought, and Lucky the hamster found a home.

A cell phone camera picture of Lucky on the night of his capture/rescue.

He has filled out some since his captivity, but we are trying to keep his activity up and food healthy.

4. Boo fucking hoo
It's a hassle to keep your cat inside.

A tiny, tiny violin is playing for you.

6. I'm sorry, what the hell?
I have six cats, they were all strays, some of them adults abandoned by their previous owners. One of them (Ivan) was an outdoor cat for years until his family just left without him.

Did you absolutely feel the need to be a sh*t in my thread? Hmmm? Couldn't resist? Or is being sarcastic and cutting just what you do in the Lounge?

5. my cat insisted on going outside
I would have preferred that he stay indoors, as it's much safer for cats, but he wouldn't have it.

So, he was only allowed to go out in our yard, on a leash (really, a length of rope tied to something) - it allowed him out safely and also cut down on the number of critters he brought home.

7. Original or Extra Crispy?
:P

I don't care for KFC chicken but I love the fake mashed for some reason. I'll sometimes go there just for a large tub (or two) of the stuff. Yum! Weird, I know...

and the biscuits.

I didn't know they served Mac-Mac until about a week ago when I saw another customer order it. I love fake and fattening food, so I bet it's good!

10. it is addicting. I have to add that I also like their cole slaw ..
I don't eat much meat, but I'd swing by KFC and pick up containers of mac and cheese, cole slaw, biscuits and beans and consider dinner prepared :D Wish they'd serve it in buckets! I overdid it though for a while, and haven't had any for about 6 months.

14. My feral brings me baby bunny corpses every so often
It really is sad, cause I keep my 4 buns in the house, and have raised one from a baby. But Cody will do what he will, and I've created quite an extensive pet cemetary out in the yard. Lately baby groundhogs have been the corpse du jour. He figures that he's taking care of me, I guess. I can appreciate the instinct and the offering, and love him dearly.

That's funny about the KFC, though! Good kitteh!!

15. I just about died laughing, he was so proud of his latest "catch"
Yes, they do try to take care of you and contribute to the stew pot. Sweet kitties. Can't control instinct, even though it does hurt to see a dead bunny or chipmunk ... I really really discourage him from the birds ... but realize rodents and small mammals probably are always going to be targets.

Hmm. Baby groundhogs? I hope Ivan doesn't find a groundhog hole or den or whatever they're called!

One time, actually now that I think about it, Ivan brought us a snake.

17. That is funny. KFC really does have a signature odor.

My cats have always been indoor but when you have one that is so used to roaming, it's cruel to lock them inside. Ivan sounds like he's a happy little boy.
My cat that passed a few years ago used to "kill" my bras and pantyhose and drag them up and down the hallway finally depositing them under the couch. He was so proud of himself. Cats are just awesome little beings be they inside or out.
:hi:

18. Dead bunny or live chipmunk, dead bunny or live chipmunk.....
I'm not sure which is worse.

I do know what is the absolute worst - one of my hens flew into the dogs' pen and I found the body in the older dog's den , a/k/a the stair landing.

19. My grandmother loved kfc. I once took her on a drive around rural areas
for fun. I got lost and found a map. I turned out to be the kfc map of Ontario which listed every outlet in the whole province. We laughed and laughed.
