Where in Italy should my fiance and I go on our honeymoon? The Poll

1. I spent three days in Florence

and I wanted to stay forever. It is a wonderful city for walking, eating, and talking. Art literally everywhere, outside, inside. The people were so friendly and helpful, almost everyone spoke English and made us welcome. Firenze!

the most wonderful landscape you could find. From this region you also can go to Naples, and other historical sights.

In this time you could also go to Venice, which is wonderful but terribly crowded in summer.

24. I´m sure you can get to Naples by train from Rome, I took this way once.

But about the connections to Amalfi from Naples I´m not sure. At least there´s a bus, if not trains. You´d better contact a travel agency on this.

And I still say Florence. Nice and central, thats why it is the center of Italian Culture and Art.

Easy train ride to Rome, Venice and short rides anywhere in Tuscany.

The Etruscans are everywhere in Tuscany but mostly the Romans built on top of their older civilization.

my Fiesole pics show mostly roman ruins but there are Etruscan mixed within. the city on the hill pre-dates Firenze (Florence) by centuries.

13. Florence is my favorite city, have been there

seven times, would like to go there another seventy! It is a great base of operations. From there, you can easily make day trips to Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, etc., and overnight trips to Rome, Venice, etc. But Florence is a great place to BE, because of the city's character, the art, the people, the food. October shouldn't be too cold (could still be hot, what with global warming.) I've been there in November when the weather was lovely, just a little cool.

However, if your fiance is not excited about going to Italy, maybe it is a bad idea to honeymoon there? Presumably, you don't want to go to the Uffizi and the Accademia alone.
