Why don't you wear a cape?
I am thinking about sporting one soon and wonder why more people don't wear capes.

3. I had a really nice one I wore until th moths got to it
And I have another than is mostly finished that I need to complete for next winter.

Problem is that capes don't really work well with car doors and seat belts.

4. You should see mine.
Well, it's really more of a cloak. My dad got it for me out of some weird military surplus catalog (he always gives the oddest and most inspired gifts).

Yugoslav army surplus, circa 1950s or so? I dunno. Very thick, stiff wool. Olive drab. High collar and detachable hood. Weighs about 15-20 lbs. It's really, really warm, and there are some winter nights in Chicago when I am very, very glad to have it. Gives me that oh-so-trendy Quasimodo look when I have my backpack on under it. :D

5. Must be close to 20 years ago now...
.
...visiting my sister's family in a NYC bedroom community in
a very, VERY upscale Connecticut neighborhood.
.
My niece and nephew, somewhere around 5 and 4 respectively,
were stuck indoors on a very gray drizzly November morning --
bitchin' and bitchin' and bitchin' at each other, increasing
EVERYONE'S misery.
.
I grabbed an old green baby blanket and snuck out the front
door. Tied it around my neck like a superhero's cape, knocked
on the windows of the playroom they were in, and proceeded to
run and jump and tumble and roll and leap and and "fly" and
somersault and skip and pounce and pogo... well, you get the
frightening picture.
.
I could hear the ROAR of their laughter coming from the house.
.
Suddenly, I realize that the neighbors, while not CLOSE by any
stretch of the (ahem) imagination... well, all those neighbors
can see is some big biker/hippy guy WAY out of place in their
neighborhood cavorting about with a cape.
.
I quickly went into the now much happier house.
.
.
.
.
My work there was done, good citizens.
.

10. Wearing a cape screws up my aerodynamics when I'm flying faster than a speeding bullet
Sure, they look good on superheroes in the Hollywood movies, but that's not real life: it's just special effects

12. No Capes!
Bob: Yeah. Something classic, like, like Dynaguy. Oh, he had a great look! Oh, the cape and the boots...
Edna: No capes!
Bob: Isn't that my decision?
Edna: Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids.
Bob: Listen, E...
Edna: November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin!
Bob: Thunderhead was not the brightest bulb...
Edna: Stratogale! April 23rd, '57! Cape caught in a jet turbine!
Bob: E, you can't generalize about these things...
Edna: Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex!

Edna: No capes!

16. I read a police report once which stated
"neighbors describe him as a man you'd expect to see wearing a cape."

Turns out he was quite flamboyant and was diagnosed with a narcissistic personality disorder.

That said, I'd love one of these:

I have two capes - one is green wool and lined with fake fur for the cold winter months and the other is an unlined heavy cotton for the spring and fall.

24. Last time I actually saw someone wear a cape was in my undergrad
days at a small military college in Vermont. There was a retired colonel, the Commandant of Cadets, who wore a cape with his dress blue uniform. It was "Army blue" (natch) on the outside and lined with the lighter "infantry blue". It looked really cool to a 21 year old cadet.

Otherwise, I would be wearing a cape every day of my life. I just don;t want to be judged.

He was well over six feet, had big bushy eyebrows, a very high voice and always wore a black cape with a red satin lining. It was tough not laughing whenever he came to classes to speak.

There's a mental picture. Though a black cape with red satin lining would be amusingly flashy at the right gig... :D Hmm...ideas for Halloween this year, assuming we book a 'ween gig...
