1. The furfish in the last picture looks more like a jacktrout.

2. On second look, you are correct.
I see so few of them.

3. Here's an idea that's undoubtedly not very original...
.
.
.
...but would still be cool.
.
.
.
Take some shots like this of different rivers now...
.
.
.
...and then take prints of those shots to the same locations and get the...
.
.
.
...exact same perspectives when they're running after a good monsoon rain.
.
.

Then post those shots in tandem. People not from here will have trouble
picturing just how full those rivers get for just a little while.
.
.
.
Yesterday walking to work, I approached the largest covey of quail I had
ever seen (I had trouble counting those quick li'l suckers behind Mom --
9 or 10) and they were the tiniest young'uns I had ever seen, too (must
have a high attrition rate -- I usually only see 3-6 good-sized juveniles
in the same formation).
.
As I got closer, they filed into the low shrubs on the right side of the
sidewalk and, when I got VERY close... the babies surprised me with their
ability to fly -- straight up the wall of the building while Mom flew
ACROSS my path at a 60 degree angle to lure me away.
.
A nice lift to a previously relatively bleak day.
.
.
.
I always get a laugh from their forward-leaning quick paces -- and I even
hear the music from "The Wizard of Oz" when Margaret Hamilton is on her
bicycle.
.

6. Lovely, L. Just lovely.
Lovely cactus. Dig the river, reminds me of home. And I wanna cuddle that trout.

:hi:
