Demi Moore got somewhere aroung $12.5M for Striptease
And critics blasted her for selling out and ruining her career.

Be honest: would you "ruin your career" for $12.5 million?

Me, I'd burn my career to the ground and make a sprinkle in the ashes.

1. I don't think she ruined her career. GI Jane was a great flick.
Plus she's got 2 or 3 movies in the works.

As for the question, for that kind of scratch I'd burn my career AND yours to the ground.

15. GI Jane came out in '97!
I loves me some Demi, but she hasn't done much lately. Took a lot of time off for the kids, too, apparently.

16. Striptease came out before it.
According to IMDB, she's been busy enough (not that I've seen any of them).

4. Haven't read the book, but...
I can't see how it could be worse than the film.

3. In the movie, "History of the World, Part I" Mel Brooks accurately shows the first critic.
I have little use for critics, myself, with the exception of Roger Ebert.

Who, in Chicago, is kind of a demigod.

5. Roger Ebert is a demigod everywhere.
And he ascends to godhood.

18. actually, no.
She got her previously attractive figure grotesquely distorted. My first reaction to her "reveal" scene was and remains: breasts don't look like that.

7. They wouldn't pay me 12.5 million to take off my clothes!
But they might pay me that to put them back on...;)

11. Yup
Not just Yes but hell yep.

For that much, I would walk away from my "career". Seeing as I could then easily afford to do the same exact thing volunteer, and be that much more particular about who I do it for.

14. I remember that whole thing...she said in order to make that $12.5 mil she had to "show her goodies"
and that paycheck made her the highest paid female actor ever at that time...while the highest paid men were making around $20 mil and did NOT have to show goodies. Really sort of pissed me off when she said that.
