Today I committed a random act of kindness....
and it felt great.

I am remembering a random act of kindness ( one of many which I have received)

somebody gave us a a crap load of money ( to us at the time) for food, on the condition we buy ourselves some quality beer with the money as well.

Share a random act of kindness

1. My dear Rising Phoenix...
My random acts of kindness are pretty trivial compared to what was done for you...

They mostly consist of allowing someone else to go first at a four-way intersection...

Or when they're coming out of a driveway and the street is very crowded...

Stuff like that.

I buy stars too, now and then.

But whatever I do, it always feels great!

2. It does, and it doesn't have to be big to make a difference
One time in line for Starbucks at Barnes and Noble, the woman behind me in line heard me admiring a large non peril chocolate. I mentioned to the person I was with I couldn't spend three dollars on that. She bought it for me!

Many times they cost nothing. But it means more than you can imagine

Rock on Peggy!

by the way I have a date coming up...... I"ll tell you all about in a message.

5. Coincidence for you.
Not half an hour ago hubby mentioned he was in a Starbucks behind a young boy who had $2- to pay for his $4 purchase. The boy asked the counter person"couldn't you make it smaller?". Hubby paid the difference and the little boy thanked him profusely. :-)

I think it feels good to do good. I have always felt that kindness should be practiced consistently.

And I want a non pareil now!

Edited on Wed Jun-16-10 06:49 PM by TK421
neighbors groceries up to her third-floor apartment, knowing she couldn't do it by herself ( she had about six bags she was carrying two and the rest were at the bottom landing ) I know these people, though...small town, you bump into the same people every day here and it's just common courtesy

edited to add: I'm good friends with her husband, who also has some health issues and they know I'm around when they need some help, they are truly good people

14. I happened to be right beside a little old lady as she stepped off a curb
with her walker without realizing the curb was there. I caught her as she fell. She scraped her knees but was otherwise okay. I took her inside to the nurses station. She just totally didn't see the curb. I feel so sorry for old people and with their falls.

15. Paying it forward is wonderful...
A lot of years ago, 1996, I think, I lost my driver's license and went a few days worried about getting pulled over without it, and about going through the hassle of trying to hit DOT on a workday.

Then my license shows up in the mail, put in an envelope and posted by some anonymous benefactor whose thoughtfulness warms my heart to this day. He or she saw my license on the sidewalk, and could have walked right by and not inconvenienced him/herself. But they made a little effort that paid warm dividends (for me, anyway)

So the other day, I'm coming out of a sidewalk cafe after lunch, and see a driver's license on the sidewalk. I'm about to walk right by it when I remembered my nameless, faceless benefactor.

I pick up the license, drive to the post office, purchase an envelope, copy the address from the license onto it, and post it. I hope the owner is as happy to get it back as I was to send it. That felt good... :-)
