8. That being part of a larger condition known as "meth mouth".

Smoking meth dries out the mouth which leads to disease as saliva acts to prevent decay. Further, saliva acts as a mild lubricant meaning this dry mouth acts to worsen the already-present grinding behavior which damages the teeth, damage which then allows further decay and compromising of the teeth; it's a nasty spiral.

In severe cases, the teeth die and turn black; or shatter from the combination of being cavity-riddled and ground; or infection sets into the bone requiring surgery and/or dramatic measures to prevent further morbidity or rarely heart-disease from endocarditis caused by anaerobic bacteria living in this dental sewer.

I have a friend who is now clean from drugs who at 32 is facing having what few live teeth he has extracted by the time he is 40 and being fitted for dentures...he's missing most of his molars and suffers from too-severe of bone-loss for dental implants to be a viable option.

11. I've taken care of heavy meth users

and to me they are the worst cases. One patient I cared for used to try, repeatedly, to pick up tiles from the floor and couldn't understand why he couldn't lift them. He also spent a lot of time trying to open locked doors by inserting a full-sized sheet of typing paper into the lock. Meth is, imo, one of the worst drugs, on a par with huffing.

And whoever concocted it has a special place in HELL waiting for them.

In my time working in a homeless shelter, I would see women like this all the time. They would first come in, some really pretty, and then disappear for awhile. When they came back, the change in their appearance was often breathtakingly horrifying, and you could tell that the drug was also having a psychological impact -- at first they were relatively stable, but as their addictions grew they were often violent and unpredictable.

So many people make fun of her but they don't stop to think about the horror that is going on in her own mind. What led her to take this path? I just feel so sorry for her and hope she has some peace.
