Question for anyone who's seen the movie "The Road"
Is the movie as good as the book? I'm in the middle of it and I really enjoy it. Slow, hauntingly beautiful book.

1. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the book....
It's incredible. Can love and familial bonds endure when there is no hope at all? Yes!

2. The book will leave a scar on you
in a good and a bad way.

I refuse to see the movie for fear it could never live up to the dark haunt the book is for me still.

3. That's why I've never sen "Remains of the Day".
Such a beautiful book. The movie can't do it justice.

4. It's a good movie but not as good as the book
I listened to the audio book during a drive alone through Vermont and NH. When I got to the touristy "general store" near Queechee Gorge, I was very happy to find so much food available. They had something like 16 different kinds of hot cocoa in that store and I hung out for while looking at all the varieties of something I don't usually buy. Then I realized that I was attracted to the hot cocoa because of a particular scene in the book.

5. Read the book and still debating whether to watch the film
I can't decide if I need to be in a really bleak mood or a really good mood in order to make it through. If I start off in a good mood, no doubt it won't last long. If I start off in a bleak mood, it might drive me to the brink of despair and beyond.

What a quandry.

6. I don't see how the movie could convey the dark lyricism of the novel...
and have not bothered to watch it

7. spoiler alert:

I just hate the way it ends; you just *know* that the family ate the kid.
