I just discovered the weirdest thing about hockey.
They actually have this puck thing that the fighters try to hit into nets with their weapons between fights. I can't tell if that makes the game seem more or less intriguing.

1. I went to my first NHL game this year (Ducks at Avs) and there was only one fight
and yet I did not receive a refund...you'd think at least a partial one. Hell, I'm as nonviolent a guy as there is, and I used to get into a minimum of two a game myself when I played as a teenager. I was expecting one every few minutes at the Avs game. If they were REAL men they'd be punching each others lights out for no reason constantly. Oh , and they didn't pull each other's jerseys over each other's heads either. C'MON guys.

2. The fights are better at the college level
only one ref, and anything that happens behind his back STAYS behind his back. I saw some pretty vicious things happen at my college boyfriend's hockey games, without any penalty

(little known fact: hockey players smell. really, really bad. from all that skating in heavy equipment. You could literally and truly smell my BF's house from down the street because of the reek of 5 guys' hockey equipment in the garage. They showered after every game, but their equipment and clothing stunk.)

12. There was a hilarious car ad during the winter olympics
Two cars "talking" to each other about the athletes each was driving around - one was assigned to the hockey team, and the other car gets a whiff of it and starts backing up. :D

5. I saw an Ontario hockey league game when I was about 8 years old. A fight broke out and there
was this huge puddle of blood that just kept expanding underneath the two fighting hockey players. I'll never forget that.

10. Clint Malarchuk? I remember that incident.
He played for my team (Caps) for awhile. He's lucky to be alive.

11. The penalties are too severe for bench clearing to happen anymore.
Even third man in gets a suspension. It's cleaned the game up a lot,but the fights they happen.

and especially the Cup finals so good. Little to no fighting, just end to end action! :toast:
