Favorite Pretenders song?
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 07:48 PM by blondeatlast
Not a poll, just a question from a HUGE fan.

Edit: It occurs to me one might be interested in mine. Tough choice, but always the nod goes to "Message of Love."

Chrissie at her best.

13. Never married; he was married at the time to someone else.
He basically accused her of stalking him. Her first child was fathered by Davies, though.

Told you I'm a big fan!

written after the death of a friend. "Chain Gang" is one of the best descriptions metaphors for grief I've ever heard. I still cry hearing it.

8. I had a MASSIVE crush on James Honeyman Scott,
the first and best guitar player, and one of two subjects of the song.

The other is original bass player Pete Farndon, a former lover of hers.

15. Great, great song. The original group had a 50% mortality rate...
"Back on the Chain Gang" is the Pretenders' song that gets to me the most.

vaguely - yes - i do recall - i haven't even heard him on the radio since like 1990 or so when i accidently tuned the dial in whatever direction that was and then just as quickly tuned it in some other direction...

ick...

yes - he definitely missed the message...

p.s. i can hardly believe all the idiotic coincidences i keep blindly stumbling into lately - i recently used the word "ditto" - about a month ago i think - i didn't have any idea what the dittos all over the place were about until about a week ago - crimminy - crummy - criminals - those repugs try to steal everything...!

34. Think Rush still uses it, at least on some breaks
I'm wondering if that's not why Chrissie Hynde said she hoped the Iraqis would win the war... just to get Rush pissed off enough that he'd quit using it. But he didn't stop...

And I'll bet Rush isn't paying a dime in royalties on it even.

33. Tattooed Love Boys by a nose
"Tattooed Love Boys" is an amazing rocker, especially the instrumental break at the end with the stops and starts.

For me, they are entirely hit and miss... I put together my own compilation CD and had no trouble keeping it under 70 minutes. But it's 70 GREAT minutes.

I'm old enough to remember the early days of MTV when they actually played videos and only had a handful in their rotation... they ran "Brass in Pocket" so thoroughly into the ground that I don't care if I never hear it again.
