1. Failure to vote for Bull Durham will result in immediate disqualification
No excuses will be accepted.

2. Aw man, do I have to explain my vote to you?
I voted "For the Love of the Game"

I know its not the most popular - but its the best in that its the most about actual baseball

Bull Durham was a cute rom-com. And there were some great baseball moments. But at its core was a romance.

Field of Dreams was excellent, but at its heart was a kind of Fatherquest kind of movie.

FTLOTG was about a pitcher pitching a perfect game. The romance was all sideshow. The real core of the movie was the game itself.

4. Funny - I just thought of something - all three named real teams
Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Durham Bulls - all of these are real baseball teams, not like the made up ones they usually use

14. An appreciation for the Moonlight Graham sup-plot is an acceptable reason to like Field of Dreams
I voted for Bull Durham, because Los Lobos are on the soundtrack, and I love the Fishbone t-shirt product placement (which was due to Fishbone playing in Durham during the filming and blowing the crew away), and the whole Susan Sarandon thing.

However, there is something compelling about the Moonlight Graham thing, which is mostly true. The guy was tantalizingly close to realizing the dream of most American males: Becoming a successful professional athlete.

The key is how he reacted: When his dreams fell through he found something else. He ended up becoming a much beloved and successful pediatrician. So as much as I hated that movie when it came out, there is something to be said for it.

One of the keys to life is how you react to disappointments.

The moral of Bull Durham is to keep an eye out for hot fans of Carolina League baseball. There are no hot fans of Carolina League baseball in real life so that message is kind of useless, even though Bull Durham is a much more entertaining movie.

11. Can I wait to answer this until after I have watched "The Longest Homerun" later tonight?
Premiere is tonight on on ESPNU at 8:30 and Costner does the narration. It is the story of the College World Series (one of my favorite sporting events each year).
