KIDNEY STONES SUCK!

I think that little fucker from "Alien" is trying to burst out of my side. Between the pain and the Technicolor Pee, I; having a grand week.

I had a CAT scan performed this morning, so I'll have a better idea about the longer-term picture tomorrow.

2. I would rather have twins without drugs than another kidney stone.
glad I had the stone BEFORE I had a baby. Made labor so much easier to put up with

6. Did you know
that you can also get them in your salivary glands?

That also sucks. A lot.

8. My dear SoxFan...
Oh, I hear you...

My husband had one recently, and it was hell.

He could not pass it...

So, he had surgery, where they went in and got it out. After pulverizing it with a laser.

He was pretty sore.

I hope you'll pass yours...

11. Sorry to hear. I had a double whammy before.
2 months later on vacation, I felt discomfort, and the other one came out!

Good thing I had the 'pills' in my suitcase.

12. I feel for you last fall had a .975mm stone. Uric acid so difficult to see
They don't give the good pain meds in the UAE... although I found a combination of Arcoxia and Volataren did a decent job as I had to wait nearly 8 weeks before any decision about surgery was made.

Ah, the surgery... shockwave was not a possibility as it slipped down the ureter and caught in the lower section.

The doctor went in (in-patient surgery) couldn't find it!!! and then placed a stent. I had the stent for 8 days of horrific pain. On the 8th day I had a second procedure and the idiot went in again, removed the stent and couldn't find the stone.

I did not go back to this guy, and won't ever. I continued with funky bladder irritation for month after month. I just assumed scar tissue from the surgery and stenting. However, in late Jan. I was at the Urinal and I heard a loud CLINK and watched the stone in slow motion go down the drawn... It was the tell-tale greyish black of a uric acid stone. I looked like a piece of melted ice, i.e. long and sharp as the zyloric I was taking had slowly eaten it away.

If it were the U.S., I would probably file for malpractice as the idiot couldn't find a HUGE stone and remove it properly!

Without proper meds, the stenting was agony... even to the point of getting to the point of thinking, "how would I end it if I needed too"... I was shocked with myself. But, I have a much better understanding of people who live with horrific pain for long periods. The pain warps your psyche and becomes everything. :(

13. A good word to remember: toradol
THE analgesic for male kidney stones. Anti-inflammatory and unlike morphine or dilaudid does more than dull the pain and won't give you nausea or make you puke.
