I've been posting notices for my Lung Transplant Blog over on GD

And it dawned on me that this is where I became a true DUer.

When I first signed in I was overwhelmed by the level of political discourse on the main pages. I would tentatively post something and watch it sink faster than the Bismark...

and then I found myself in the hospital with ARDS and pneumonia back in 2004.

When I came back it wasn't that long until I discovered the lounge. I was tentative at first but by the time the 04 election was over, I was able to forget about all my troubles while learning how to post in Morse Code, why Chili is not Chili unless you add (please insert secret ingredient here) and to look forward to Shark week...

I remember an especially fun day when I was posting about what Cool Whip went good with...

It was a very long thread and it was fun although I can tell you Dill Pickles do not go well with Cool Whip...

Anyway, I am facing a lung transplant in the near future and it occurred to me that setting up a blog about what i am going through would help me get through it all...

I especially related to the thinking too much; a curse of sensitive intelligent people. I also am a classic "didn't live up to his potential" type.Maybe in another message/reply, I'll go into the incredible levels of success some of my old college ( and later) buddies achieved; friends I was supposedly on an academic par with, and whom I counter-productively compare myself to..... Oh well, I'm still here, and so are you, and I wish you the very best in your struggles with your health. And thank you again for your generosity in sharing your life and those struggles with us.


P.S. I may from time to time have to insist on the inclusion of Hershey's chocolate syrup....good stuff....

I don't know what help I can offer except positive energy and the knowledge all us DU'ers are here for ya, even if it's only in a cyber fashion.
